LeMarchand Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Do you not have the licence given to you when you first signed up to the Insider program? That stopped working a few builds back for me! Have found others to activate subsequent builds, but not one for 10240.
MartinT Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Interesting. The activation has remained preserved for me, across the builds.
Arreks Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 ^ Same here, mine has kept the activation throughout all the updates. Now on the latest and it's fine.
LeMarchand Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Might be because I had to use a PS script to force it to update?
LeMarchand Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Re Activation: mine has stopped showing the "product not activated" nag, though still isn't activated. It seems to be checking against KMS which hasn't got a key (yet).

gshaw Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Just dropped a long-overdue SSD in my work laptop, set it up with the factory 8.1 image and upgraded to 10... ...installed OK but needs an extra reboot after first login for the modern apps to appear (Edge etc.) apart from that feels very snappy as you'd expect from an i5 \ 840 Evo combo

BassTech Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Does anyone know if/how to do a clean install on a new SSD? I don't like the idea of installing 8.1 then upgrading it to 10... is this possible?

SteveM555 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Is there any working RSAT tools yet? Tried to install the Insider Preview RSAT tools but it wasn't having any of it.
Trapper Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Anyone managed to release a Pro product key yet. MS are bloody clever. Can't even change desktop background orientation or stretch/crop/tile unless you activate. 1

Can't even change desktop background orientation or stretch/crop/tile unless you activate. Try this: wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey Can't check as already been on Win10 as an Insider... Arthur Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 got a screenshot of how the taskbar looks in tablet mode? Ars Technica has a couple in their Windows 10 review. https://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/tablet-mode.png https://cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/tablet-mode-all-programs.png
Trapper Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Just to throw a spanner: The RSAT are ALWAYS released as en_US first, usually by months. Either cock about with your install to get en_US installed and set as the default, or until about the 6 month mark only install the en_US version of Windows. This caused serious pain for Windows 8 release as I went for en-GB on my work laptop, and in the end had to bin it as I couldn't get RSAT to install by inserted en-US post install
