zag Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I guess we can say that Windows 10 is now released then! Happy installing!!
ITGURU Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 EES Schools with Software Assurance will get the downloads on 1st August??
denzal2k4 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 My machine has gone kinda laggy with the RTM build....
Jamoire Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 The good news is 10240 has finally sorted the BITS downloads behind a proxy issue, so Windows Update and Store finally work again!
Gatt Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Windows 10 is now listing on WSUS Not checked to see if clients are now reporting as Windows 10 yet (They were previously Windows Vista)
zag Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Installed the latest version yesterday and all good so far. The annoying beta build message has gone from the bottom right of the screen so it looks nice now They also mentioned a service pack type release in October with some new larger features.
MartinT Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 10240 definitely seems to be RTM. It has also sorted the issue we had with logging in to the domain, now working. I've made an ISO from it and will work to get it into MDT to start testing deployment.
MartinT Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Ok, that didn't work as the ISO created is missing install.wim, which is required by MDT. Sneaky Microsoft! So, does anyone know when the Volume Licence ISO images will appear as downloads? I guess I may have to wait until 29th?
zag Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I just downloaded the release from this website Download Windows 10 RTM Build 10240 ISO

ITGURU Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I just downloaded the release from this website Download Windows 10 RTM Build 10240 ISO Which link did you use, as I couldn't get any of them to download.
Gatt Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Umm.. Be careful with ISO's for Build 10240 - It's been explicitly stated that Microsoft have NOT made an ISO available for this build, nor is a clean install supported for it.. In otherwords, if you use an ISO to install 10240, you're on your own with any issues..
MartinT Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Yes, I'm waiting for the VL downloads. I think any 10240 ISO will be missing the install.wim file anyway, so will not be usable with MDT.
Garacesh Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Anyone jumping on it straight away on their home machines? I'm tempted.
gshaw Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Anyone jumping on it straight away on their home machines? I'm tempted. Would do on a spare laptop but waiting on the upgrade license. Anyone been running it on a Surface Pro 3? What's it like with Continuum compared to 8.1 (which on a tablet does work well)
Devontechie Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Anyone jumping on it straight away on their home machines? I'm tempted. I'm probably going to do so within the first week
JRowley Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Anyone jumping on it straight away on their home machines? I'm tempted. I will, so long as I can get an ISO since I'm moving to a new SSD at the same time.
CAM Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I've installed an SSD and reloaded Windows 8 ready for the end of the month. Looking forwards to trying Windows 10. More importantly looking forwards to it on my phone but I will have to wait for my carrier first.
X-13 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Anyone jumping on it straight away on their home machines? I'm tempted. If I was still just using my laptop for web browsing, I probably would. But I'm using it for games, so I'd rather not be dealing with driver and compatibility problems... I'm going to wait a bit and see how lab rats other people do with it.
Garacesh Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 But I'm using it for games, so I'd rather not be dealing with driver and compatibility problems... I'm going to wait a bit and see how lab rats other people do with it. Entirely my thought process, but I have spare hard drives.. I could clone my SSD onto another disk and try W10 with that, see how it plays out.
LeMarchand Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Anyone jumping on it straight away on their home machines? I'm tempted. No way! Putting it on the machine I've been testing the previews on (this machine) and that's it. Will probably start an image at each of my schools at some stage soon after release with a view to having one ready if there aren't any problems at some stage in the future. May leave my home machines on 8.1 anyway; certainly not going to 10 for a few months at least - depends how I feel about the release build at work. So far the previews have left me fairly unimpressed.
MartinT Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I'm already on 10240 at home, which is effectively RTM. It's nice and stable and fast (on an SSD).
denzal2k4 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Had the preview on my home laptop, work laptop and and work desktop since it came out, its absolutely fine, no driver issues, only reason its not on my HTPC is I still need media center, as soon as it is fully released we are making an image of it and deploying to a new IT suite, and hopefully teachers lectern pc's, we have full confidence in it based on what we have seen over the past few months.

MartinT Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 Do you not have the licence given to you when you first signed up to the Insider program?
