We have had a request to find some way of getting some entertainment setup in our dinner hall for the children during break and lunch..

Has anyone had the same request and if you have what was the solution to use? I have some idea's but I just want to see what everyone else thinks...

Taa muchly :)

I have a XBMC media center setup so that the children can watch LiveTV in the hall on three different screen. You really won't believe how quiet the hall is now that all the kids are watching TV - haha!

XBox Media Centre Media Centre? :D Do you also put your Personal Identification Number Number in at the Automated Teller Machine Machine?

Realistically I think something like that would be the best idea. Live TV = pre-screened and pre-censored so there's no accidental naughties, whereas music channels or DVD's may cause issues (of either inappropriate content, or licensing/copyright)

Have a look at this as it might be a better alternative long term Improving school lunchtime structure & management - Recipe for Change.

We have the setup ready I was just looking for what others do... I'm happy to go with pre screened music but it needs to be a rather big playlist as to not get old quickly... the live TV is an interesting idea but sometimes it just ends up being rubbish shows that would not hold conversation lol

We are also thinking to throw some X-Factor/whatever is popular at that time clips into the mix to keep the children engaged!

They stick Daybreak (or whatever it is now) on in the morning for breakfast, but over break & lunch they instead go for the approach of "go on hurry up eat faster people are waiting no don't hang around get on with it eat eat EAT EAT GO GO GO!"

Is it quite an old version? I don't think it's compatible with modern day stuff? ;)

The original application is old, but the children get regular updates each day.

No, it's multi-platform shareware - available in a variety of languages. :D
