Simple answer is 'no, not really', but then I don't think a desktop looks with right without some form of disk drive. Machines with no FDD still look weird to me! I usually put one in "just in case". + family still prefer to gift physical media. I don't think a desktop looks with right without some form of disk drive. Machines with no FDD still look weird to me! I found one of these in a case at the back of the "ICT Store" recently: Rather worryingly, the documentation suggested that the software it contained (History/The Tudors) was on a par with more recent EDU efforts... DMcCoy Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Although the problem if you want something for gaming is the z800 has no PCIe 3.0, USB3.0 and at equivalent clock speed you are going be 20-40% slower in single threaded apps. Nice price though

That's £49.03 cheaper than Overclockers. I know it comes with a built in GPU but I would still spend £30 or so and get a fan less Nvidia gpu than rely solely on the HD 4600 especially with that beasty build seems silly not to have a dedicated GPU! imo

I found that whenever I pressed wsad keys to move it would stutter found this was due to it logging the key presses in event viewer, (or something like that) after this the issue was sorted! Or you could just buy the Pentium K for £50-something, stick it on an MSI z97 board and overclock it up to 4.5GHz. Plus, being the same socket, you could just slap an i7 in later on down the line (when it won't be setting your wallet ablaze) if it wasn't giving you enough oompf. Edited July 7, 2014 by Garacesh

If it is just gaming then if you have a decent graphics card already, save yourself by sticking an i5 in rather than the i7. Later on you could upgrade it when their price comes down. But in my opinion, if you have a decent graphics card and your RAM isn't topping out then there is next to no difference in the CPUs while gaming. I also agree on no need for optical drive. In my new build all the storage I have is 260GB SDD and that is it. Might eventually put in another if I need it, but I doubt it. No optical drive as I cannot remember the last time I used one.
3s-gtech Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Not long completed GTA IV myself. It ran like a dog on my old 4850 1GB - when I stepped it up to a 6870 1GB I could finally max it out at good FPS. Modern cards can make up for the shonky conversion.
