Quite simply....Getting a new smartphone, bored of my iPhone,

So its either HTC One M8 or Galaxy S5, never had a Samsung phone so thats new territory! Opinions?

I would prefer the HTC, had a Hero years ago which was solid, but had a Sensation...which build quality was shockingly bad, but i think they have picked up their game since.

I went from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S4, mainly for the screen size and I hate it! Apps crash, phone crashes, random memory dumps, not picking up signal, cheap build quality etc. I will be upgrading to the iPhone 6 when it comes out as at least Apple have brilliant build quality and it just works the way I expect. Its all personal choice really though as most top end smartphones these days are all pretty similar

I'm in exactly the same boat, currently got an iPhone 4S that needs upgrading.

64Gb iPhone 5S is stupid money.

Choice for me came down to Sony Xperia Z2 vs HTC One M8. M8 slightly cheaper. Also reviews look good. Supports upto 128Gb microSD.

I'm going for the M8 if Orange/EE can sort themselves out (apparantly they need to unbundle my iPhone/iPad so they can cancel the iPad contract and upgrade the phone. Cant do this instantly, that'd be too easy, have to wait till next bill for the computers to be rebooted or something - arrggghhhh!!!!!)

Wow that's stupid!

I just don't get a signal on EE at work, its crazy and im paying £40/month for the privilege, I can get £315 for my iphone and ill just pay the rest of the contract off, move to giffgaff who are cheaper, unlimited internet and I can get a signal! I can also pay extra off the phone when I want so it'll work out cheaper in the long run!

out of the two i would go for the M8.

i have a nexus 5 and love it.

only had that a few months and am looking forward to the oneplus one!

Have you considered a Note 3? I spent a good few months looking through all the reviews, I wanted an S5 or sony xperia Z2 but i've gone for the Galaxy Note 3 and I love it. Through Mobile phones direct I managed to pick one up on Tmobile at £25 a month, about £20 cheaper than the S5 or HTC were going to cost and not a ton of difference in spec.

I've got an M8, it's lovely. Build quality, features and experience are all excellent

Beats the S5 as you can put icons you want on the lock screen launcher

Beats the nexus (and iphone) as you can expand the memory

SNAP!!! Just about to order from GiffGaff...I had such an argument with EE, he said "If you had signal problems at home we could do something about it (money wise)" my response: "Well, im at work more than home!!"

I just cannot get on with Android at all. Bought my mum and sister a Moto g because they both wanted a cheap smartphone, but I find Android horrible and clunky. I'm counting down the days till the iPhone 6 release because my current iPhone 4 is getting very aged and the time taken to load/switch apps is definitely showing now - and very annoying!

I recommend none of the above. Sony Xperia Z2 is my current flavour of choice.

Completely waterproof (unlike the others)...this is a big thing if you slip and drop it in the bath or sink etc.

Decent camera

Limited bloatware (very very little compared to Samsung and HTC, not to mention Apples whole deal!), plus integration with PSN (if you use it).

Great battery life. I accidentally left on Injustice: Gods Among Us all day on my phone whilst at work (no sound, but screen locked, game running when unlocked), and still had 50% battery left, on my galaxy note, I couldn't get that sort of battery life.

Very very good screen, I have been able to watch 4K videos without issue.

Great Sony support, literally best I have had for a phone.

Also depending on who you get it with, free spotify premium for the life of your contract (I got mine with O2 directly)

Downside - no removeable battery (but this is taken into account because of the phone being waterproof).

I have an M8 - and while the screen size was a little daunting at first, you do get used to it.

The whole thing just feels so... zoom, I'd definitely recommend one.

Hey, i got my HTC One M8 this weekend and i'm pretty pleased with it (ok so if you follow me on twitter, this weekend was mostly a lot of me shouting HOW DO I ANDROID?!).

Tis pretty speedy and i'm already used to the size difference. I'm currently seeing how long the battery lasts as i'm a very heavy user....some people may say i have a bit of a problem.

Anyone wanna buy an iPhone?

I don't understand why anyone would pay £500+ on a smart phone!! :)

I'll be getting this when its released next month. Drop in a 32gb MicroSD card and it does everything a phone should do

That's the Moto G, it doesn't have an SD Card slot. You sure you didn't mean a different model as that model has been out for ages.

Also, you can get the 8GB model for £99 from Tesco and an unlock code from ebay for £2.04.
