I wouldn't put anything important on there; it's Kim Dotcom's latest venture and I can't see the US stopping until they have destroyed him...

I've noticed people using it for storing game mod downloads, but I doubt anyone's using it for important data after the last debacle.

Absolutely not, I will not transfer, in either direction, a single byte to Mega or any other venture by that cheating, criminal twaguloid.

LOL Twaguloid. love it!!

So what is the best (cheapest per GB) online storage/backup system?

I am thinking of backing up all my photos and thats about 50gb at the moment and only set to grow!

Well thanks to the above lovely people I am now up to 70Gb using copy.com :)

All free with no file size restrictions (so a 10Gb single file would work just fine etc)

Interestingly, Copy seems to be run by Barracuda Networks. We have their firewalls!

I use dropbox and I have paid for the 100GB I recently bought a new phone (GS4) and it came with 50gb of dropbox storage for 2 years, so now i've got at least 150GB of storage for 2 years however I doubt I'll come close to using the extra 50GB as I'm at about 25GB now.

For me dropbox is convenient and its likely to stick around for a while.

Just done the same. :) Thought I might as well give it a go.

Looking at their prices for paid for storage dropbox is currently $9.99 pm for 100GB and copy is $9.99 pm for 250GB pretty good value for money, however I know more people that use dropbox and we share large files together so moving to another service might be problematic if they don't want to move.

I signed up for http://www.copy.com - you get 15Gb free plus an extra 5Gb for every person you refer (and they get 5Gb too!). Works great, has all the Apps etc for each type of device. I've got mine up to 50Gb now :)

Shameless plug if you want that extra 5Gb :) : https://copy.com?r=wy017L

If @themightymrp feels he now has enough referrals and storage space then here is mine https://copy.com?r=bfKoZX

Im on 20GB at the moment. Thanks to @themightymrp . Only need a total of 25-30GB for all the family vids and photos so any help would be appreciated :)

USERFUL TIP for Copy.com users!

On your desktop client (assuming you have the PC one installed), right click the icon and go to preferences. Now click on the 'Manage your files' button.

From here you can choose which files and folders your want to sync to the PC you are using while still leaving your files in the cloud!!! So if you have a folder of 20Gb of backed up files but you don't want that entire thing downloading on a second machine, you can exclude it from the sync but it will still be online :) You can also tick a box to delete the locally cached copy of the excluded files/folders to free up some space.

Thought I would share as I've only just discovered this
