hallb15 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 We have several of these Konica Minolta biz hubs throughout school. on 99% of the computers, everything works fine. But I have a couple of machines that are refusing to print. We have them setup to verify authentication settings before printing, so when you click print, it asks you for a username and password. I'm using the same username and password as always, but it refuses to verify. I've tried a couple just to make sure, but still no joy. Following advice from Konica, I tried disabling the antivirus software and I confirmed the windows firewall was off but still I get the same thing. The printer is installed and configured correctly as it prints without an issue when I log in as an admin. But if I log in as anyone else it will not print . We have 3 Konica copiers on this network and the PC can print to the other two without any issues. I’ve also noticed that I can’t get to the web interface up for the copier in question, yet I can for the other two. I’ve even tried disabling IPv6 and using IPv4 only, but this also made no difference. In sheer frustration, I wiped the PC earlier and re-imaged it from a known working image, but it still has the same issue… Any ideas?
3s-gtech Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Well, you're not alone. I couldn't get the authentication on the C554 (very similar model) to work, though it works on our mono 751s. Similar issue - refused to verify. In the end I had to turn it off, which was a right pain as it means that print jobs are not logged against the internal accounting.
hallb15 Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 The weird thing for me is that it works on close to 100 computers without any problems, its just a couple that don't work...
3s-gtech Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Do those couple have anything in common? Can you think of any differing factors between those and other machines that work (such as the OU they're in)? Bizarre otherwise!
hallb15 Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 I've been racking my brain (doesn't take long these days) but can't find anything different with the PC. Same OU, same switch in the cabinet even. The only difference is that the copier in question is a C454 and the two that do work are C364, but every other PC in school can print to it!! This afternoon I've even brought one of the offending PCs into my office and tried it with the network cable from my PC. Yes, clutching at straws, but what else can it be??? This did use to work on EVERY PC so something has changed, but I can't figure out what and its killing me...
hallb15 Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 I've solved it! Or rather, Michael from KM support has solved it. Turns out there was a dodgy SSL certificate stored on the copier. Exactly how this prevented only 2 PCs from printing I'll never know, but at least its all working as it should again! Michael is a sound bloke - i'll PM his contact details if you are still struggling...
gtg93 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 I realise this thread is over a year old, but just had this issue myself and this was the first result on Google when looking for a fix and unfortunately the SSL thing didn't solve it for me, so thought I'd share what solved it for us... Turns out we needed to add the IP to the proxy exceptions list in IE. 1
mikemcsharry Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 I know this is an old thread but I can't find anything close to this info through any google search. Konica 368 - has been set to use account tracking. I've checked all settings on server and domain joined win 7 devices and they match a workgroup user who is working- problem I have is that the screen that should pop up to say "password " isn't doing - so job sends to print with no authentication and doesn't happen. This is a fresh install and very very few GPOs etc. I've also tried adding the printer by its ip number but no joy. Any clues where I should look next?
mikemcsharry Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Got it - if in doubt click on ALL the tabs until you find something useful!!
hallb15 Posted August 30, 2017 Author Posted August 30, 2017 Glad you fixed it. Sorry for not replying sooner - this is my first day in school for a couple of weeks. The setting you were looking for is buried within the printer properties. If you go to the Settings tab, then click the 'Authentication Settings...' button the first two boxes on that page have to be ticked so that when your users print, it pops up a request for their username and password before sending the job to be printed.
mikemcsharry Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Thank you - I'd been looking in printer preferences - its odd that the 'configure' on 'priner properties' takes you to a web screen from the printer that isn't available any other way!!

There's many things that seem counter intutive with these Konica MFDs but after a few years you get used to them!
steve Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Just incase you're not using it, Konica's free PageScope Data Administrator is a good way configure their devices. I find it much better than flicking through all those tabs at the machine: https://www.biz.konicaminolta.com/solutions/ps_utilities/dataadministrator.html 4

lovelldr Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Resurrecting an old thread here, but had this problem myself... Tried deleting the certificates, loads of other things... In the end, found out that it was because the time was out. The photocopier was about 5 minutes faster than the server time... Obviously hadn't affected before, because there's a tolerance level, but the time must've crept over the tolerance time, and so wouldn't allow new logins... Went in, set the time server adjustment to the dc, and hey presto, back working again...
Aluoch Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Years later and this issue and here I am with the same issue. The SSL certificate has been reinstalled from a different printer of the same model. Proxy solution did not work. Change security settings from SSL to TLS. Nothing. Anyone?
MichaelZahn Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 It sounds like you're dealing with a specific network or authentication issue on the problematic machines. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue: Check User Authentication Settings on the Printer: Since the printer works when logged in as an admin but not for other users, ensure that the user authentication settings on the Konica Minolta C454 are configured correctly. Go to the printer's web interface (from another machine that can access it) and verify that user credentials and access permissions are properly set up. Review Printer Driver Configuration: Make sure the printer driver on the affected PCs is the correct version and configured properly. Sometimes, using the wrong driver version can cause authentication failures. Ensure you're using the specific driver provided by Konica Minolta for the C454 and that it's updated. Network Configuration and Connectivity: The fact that you can't access the web interface of the problematic copier from these machines suggests a network issue. Check the network settings on both the PC and the printer. Ensure the printer is on the correct VLAN or network segment and that there are no IP address conflicts. Test connectivity by pinging the printer's IP address from the affected machines. Check for Network Policies or Restrictions: If there are network policies, such as those set by group policies or firewalls on the school's network, they may be blocking access to the copier's IP address or port. Ensure no restrictions are preventing communication between the PC and the printer. Reset Printer and Network Settings: If possible, reset the printer's network settings and reconfigure them. Sometimes a fresh configuration can resolve underlying issues. Check for DNS or Host File Issues: If the printer's hostname is used instead of the IP address in the printer settings, ensure that DNS is properly resolving the printer's name to the correct IP address. Alternatively, check the host file on the problematic PCs to ensure there are no incorrect entries. Printer Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for the Konica Minolta C454. Sometimes, firmware bugs can cause unexpected behavior, and updating to the latest version can resolve these issues. Test with Another User Profile: Create a new user profile on the problematic PCs and test printing with this new profile. Sometimes, issues with user-specific settings or corrupted profiles can cause printing errors. Contact Konica Minolta Support: If all else fails, contact Konica Minolta support with detailed information about the issue, including any error codes or messages displayed on the printer or the affected PCs. They may have additional insights or updates for you to apply. By systematically checking these areas, you should be able to identify the root cause of the problem and take steps to resolve it.
