  1. Resurrecting an old thread here, but had this problem myself... Tried deleting the certificates, loads of other things... In the end, found out that it was because the time was out. The photocopier was about 5 minutes faster than the server time... Obviously hadn't affected before, because there's a tolerance level, but the time must've crept over the tolerance time, and so wouldn't allow new logins... Went in, set the time server adjustment to the dc, and hey presto, back working again...
  2. Thanks for that... Had same issue and was wondering what was wrong!
  3. Hmmm, just ran this ps, and it's still going through at the minute, but apparently, my machine is unpatched... Even though it's got all the latest windows 10 updates?! Any ideas why that would be reported, lol...
  4. OK, just noticed somewhere on there that the following message was showing as an error, but can't see where that error was now: Error contacting Twitter API: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate Any ideas on how to resolve this? Checked date and time is correct on the server.
  5. Hi all... Xibo getting on my nerves. Trying to set up Xibo to show our twitter feeds primarily. Have got Xibo installed, and seems to be working fine from what I can tell... However, I cannot get it to show the tweets. I installed the Twitter module, added the API and Secret API. I then went on to a layout, and added a region. Then, set twitter as the media. In here, I added from:northfield_rmet as the search term, and changed type to Recent. Left everything else as defaults, as it should work I would imagine with the defaults... However, when I preview the layout, it doesn't show anything where the twitter region is... We have a transparent proxy at school, and have enabled twitter.com to the transparent proxy... Is there any other site that I should ensure is allowed to the transparent proxy for this to work? Doing my head in... lol. Any help greatly appreciated
  6. Hi All... I've been asked by the school to look in to getting quotes for a SMS System. The head has specified that she wants an unlimited system. We are fairly average sized primary (about 420 children), and have been using a trial of a company for a month now. Another company don't do trials, but they have said they do an unlimited system, but the way the system works is on a fair use policy, and if after the first year, we are using more than their fair use, the unlimited cost is increased for the second year... They informed me that the fair use policy was around 28,000 messages. With the trial I've had, in the last month, we sent 2000 sms. And that was with quite a few all school messages, that tbh weren't worthy of a sms message, and would've been better just going on to the website, or twitter feeds... So, I think we'd be perfectly fine just having a bundle system. However, the head wants to go ahead with an unlimited system, because she's worried that people won't want to use it if we told them that there was a limit to sms... However, my argument is, that if we used the sms for every single thing, then parents are soon going to start getting fed up with receiving the messages. My thought on using the SMS system, is that it should only be used to query where children are if they aren't in school on a day, inform parents that they owe dinner money, inform of trips that are happening/late returns from trips, cancelled clubs, etc, etc... Asking the office staff, we would probably be sending around 30-50 messages a day at most, for these type of messages, then on the odd occasion of whole school messages or year group trips etc, inform them through the other means... How have other schools got on with SMS? How many roughly are you sending in a year (and how big is your school)? Are parents getting fed up of receiving SMS? If anyone has gone on an unlimited option, is it truely unlimited? I've heard stories that companies offering truley unlimited options, put the prices up the following year if the number of messages in the previous year was over a certain amount... Anyone had experience of that? All responses gratefully received. Cheers, David
  7. Still trying to sell it to other colleagues and the business manager... To me, NetSupport seems a no brainer. We are ideally wanting to use them to monitor the iPads as well. My colleague has been told that Impero can still monitor and control iOS devices through the windows console. From what I was aware, no classroom monitoring software could do this on iOS 9... Is anyone using Impero on an iOS 9 device that can control and monitor them through the Windows console? But, that fact that I can get the perpetual license for around 1/3 cheaper for NetSupport rather than Impero, and then the ongoing support at 1/6 of the Impero support, I'm inclined to go for NetSupport... Just hope I can get the go ahead...
  8. Hi guys... We're currently looking in to a classroom management / monitoring solution at the trust of schools. Looking around, a lot of people used to favour Impero over NetSupport... But, I see a lot of issues recently with current versions of Impero... What would people recommend between the 2? Based on quotes I've seen for Impero, this is nearly 2 (or treble if we bought the license just for our school and not all schools in the trust). Support costs are only slightly cheaper with NetSupport however... So, what would people recommend between the two? Has anyone recently used both and decided on one rather than the other? Cheers David
  9. Thanks lots for that... Hadn't thought of it being called a photo mosaic, lol... Found this software which seems easier than having to do it online from your line. But thanks for the idea https://www.andreaplanet.com/andreamosaic/download/
  10. Just found the poster I was remembering...
  11. Hi guys... I've been asked to look in to a way to create an image based on an image from multiple images... I know the idea, as I remember having a star wars poster when I was younger, which looked like Darth Vader, made up from multiple different screen shots from the films... Does anyone know of any software where you can do this (preferably free of course)... So, I can give an image that I want the final picture to look like (i.e. in example above a darth vader photo), and then a load of other pictures to compose the image from (i.e. the star wars still images), and it will create a final picture from all the little pictures looking like the first image Hopefully I've explained myself well enough?! lol. Thanks again, David
  12. Basically, it's not going to be worth the cost... I thought it would be quite expensive, never expecting it to be this expensive! lol The head just wants each child to be able to have their own microphone when doing the school play... I told her it will likely be too expensive, but never thought it would be that much, haha. But thanks for all the information. At least I can get back to her with this. Cheers, David
  13. Thank you. I thought I was correct in the way I was doing it, but just wanted to make sure... Thanks
  14. I'm just going through renewing our OVS subscription at present now... Like all posted above, I previously counted everyone as 1 person, if they worked over 200 hours and used a machine at the school or from the school... However, I recently got a quote from someone for something else, who told me I was paying too much, and need to perform a calculation to get the correct payment. We have recently become an academy, and the business manager who works at another primary who is joining also told me that it is wrong to calculate like that, and there's a formula to calculate the FTE. This formula I got given is: Full Time Teachers + (Part time teachers / 3) + Full time staff + (Part time staff / 2) I'm not sure of this, and it sounds like fiddling the system to me... I would usually have done a calculation of 50 for this, but using the above formula, it is only 36... Using this formula, would save me over £260, but then are we properly covered? I would say no, but the other people I've spoken to say yes?!
  15. Hi guys. I've been asked by the head teacher to get a quote for a class set of wireless microphones. So, this is 30 wireless microphones... Would that even be possible with the spectrum? Currently, we have 4 wireless mics, 2 on VHF and 2 on UHF. Anyone any ideas on costing for 30 wireless microphones, and the best solution to go for? Cheers
  16. Thanks for your input, but, isn't each area assessment, individual to each user... This is where is gets more complicated
  17. Hi guys. Just looking for a little bit of advice. At our school, they are now going H & S mad, and they have now told me, that I am to do the DSE risk assessments... Not really anything to do with an IT Technician, and definitely not in the job description (that they are usually so quick to point out when I say things that I am doing and they don't want me to do them...) But anyway, they put on a "DSE Assessor" course, which is basically an online set of notes etc, and then tell me I need to go around and do the risk assessments. Well, from everything I can see, it is up to each individual to do their own assessment, and then I look at the assessment, and need to check that they are correct... But, my next question is, who do we assess? According to the information I've been given, a DSE User is class as someone who "either spends prolonged spells of more than one hour on most working days, or; for shorter periods totalling two or more hours on most working days". So, imo, an assessment needs to be carried out on all office staff, head, deputy & assistant (as head and deputy are non-teaching, and assistant is only 50%), myself and that's about it. But, then I'm sure the teachers would argue that they probably spend up to 2 hours at a computer. Would use of Projectors/Interactive Screens count as DSE use? As I see it, they're not spending time look at it continuously. But, then there's also time spent planning on the computer at home etc... So, should I both assessing teachers, or not? Look forward to your guys feedback
  18. On the page you get sent after applying, there's a link just underneath this text called Download installer files: Use that, extract the zip to a folder, and use the MSI you extracted... I've never created an MST and works perfectly fine...
  19. Why not register with Adobe to redistribute Air? There's an MSI installer on their download page when you register http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/air/runtime-distribution1.html
  20. Hi guys. Had the above boards for about 7 years now, regularly cleaned and lamps changed etc... But, a few of them are starting to show signs of aging... So, ideally need to change the projectors. So, I was wondering, with the current market of projectors, which projectors people would recommend to upgrade to? Looking for ideas for both the projector and mount kit together pls... Had a search around, but can't see anything recent, and the projectors people have mentioned haven't said much about mount kits... Thanks again guys
  21. OK, management were insistent on rolling this out asap... So, the best way I found to ensure that dotnet 4.5.2 was installed, was to use PDQ Deploy. I downloaded the offline installer to a network share, and created a new package in the free version of PDQ Deploy. For the parameters, I used /q /norestart. Then, when all the machines are turned on, ( just deployed it out to all machines... It failed on a couple of machines (people turning them off when I was deploying), so just made sure they were turned on again, and re-deployed it... Perfect Hope this helps someone...
  22. Huge thanks for that Arthur... I will have a proper read of it when I get to my next school (just about to leave here), and let you know how I get on
  23. Hi guys. Trying to fix this error... I've had it on and off for a while now. But, this has usually been resolved by clearing the users browser history. However, that doesn't seem to be resolving it now. Have been through everything I can think of listed on the google help page. I've read through this page, and haven't found anything to resolve the issue... Tried everything I seen on the net... Nothing appears to work. Read through this thread, and nothing there seems to cure it either... Currently using IE 10 all updated, with latest flash (15.0.0.189), with both the ActiveX and Flash version installed... Also tried playing the HTML v5 version, and that's not done anything, same error. Filtering is just the standard OpenHive Webshield... Any ideas what it could be... Really random as well, since some computers work fine... What seems to happen, is that the adverts work fine, then it goes through a series of trying different resolutions, and then brings up the error?!
  24. OK, TT 15.1 came out yesterday, and I've been asked to deploy it... Is there any way of deploying 4.5.2 yet?
  25. Thanks a load for this Would be very interested to find out the method you use to create your MSI though
