Donating Used Projectors to Another School

Hopefully somebody will be able to help with this.

 

We recently replaced all of our Epson projectors the awkward yet useful Smart E70. Before the work was even carried out the Business Manager had agreed to donate some of our old projectors to a Secondary School so that they could use them.

 

Does anyone have any insights into the rules and regulations on doing this? Or some very good 'For' and 'Against' arguments?

 

I was told in passing that technically we can't legally do it but I can't remember the specific reasoning behind it.

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We make sure that a disclaimer is signed stating that they are AS IS and we take no responsibility for their use / performance / state.

You can do, but as @fairm010 says you'll need to produce some handover documentation. Record the serial numbers, write something up stating that they're provided as-is and must be disposed of according to WEEE regulations, and get HTs or similar to sign on both sites. As they're not going for destruction or recycling, you don't need a WEEE certificate yourself, so long as the ownership is transferred.

As above, when running our ICT swapshop we've generally just printed off a quick note detailing the items with serial numbers if necessary.
