Having a bit of a strange problem with our web filter agent blocking the saving of Bitlocker Recovery keys to Azure. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't seem to find anything online about what might be causing this and the devices don't show any obvious traffic during this time.

Should have come here to look for this. Would have been faster than what I did. The Lightspeed Relay filter is not very user friendly I think. I have a list of URLs now (I know there are probably easier or shorter ways of entering these but brute force was a rush job):

*.thenational.academy/*

*.thenational.academy/?

.thenational.academy/*

classroom.thenational.academy

classroom.thenational.academy/*

https://bugsnag-notify.thenational.academy

https://bugsnag-notify.thenational.academy/*

https://classroom.thenational.academy

https://classroom.thenational.academy/*

https://nr-agent.thenational.academy

https://nr-agent.thenational.academy/*

https://nr-data.thenational.academy

https://nr-data.thenational.academy/*

https://quiz-answers.thenational.academy

https://quiz-answers.thenational.academy/*

https://stream.video.thenational.academy

https://stream.video.thenational.academy/*

nr-data.thenational.academy

nr-data.thenational.academy/*

quiz-answers.thenational.academy

quiz-answers.thenational.academy/*

stream.video.thenational.academy

stream.video.thenational.academy/*

teachers.thenational.academy/*

-
Has Anyone Seen This Before - SharePoint Mapped Site Saving Error

From what I have seen (and not tested with other filetypes) it’s just Word documents. -
Has Anyone Seen This Before - SharePoint Mapped Site Saving Error
MrMDStreet replied to MrMDStreet's topic in Cloud Services
It is a strange one because users have just got into the habit of turning off auto save, access settings for the sites seem to have changed with no interaction from myself and the only thing that has changed recently is web filtering. -
Hi, some users when saving a file to the SharePoint Sites setup for them have an issue when saving a copy of a document via the 'Browse' option are presented with the error in the image. If they click 'No' apparently they can still save the file but if the navigate to the folder through other routes, the error isnt presented. It only seems to be with 'Quick Access' in Explorer.

Some help with Meraki networking

Then it would be that. Would it be safe to assume this is not going to work then? -
Some help with Meraki networking
MrMDStreet replied to MrMDStreet's topic in Network and Classroom Management
I would assume it is a converter as it outputs from the NVR via VGA to the sender with an Ethernet out. This ran to a screen with Ethernet in to VGA out. -

They appear to be these ones (https://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg90980/extender-vga-over-cat-5e-6/dp/CS25387?mckv=sJ5xUWUcz_dc|pcrid|426684131165|kword||match||plid||slid||product|CS25387|pgrid|100371159078|ptaid|pla-309736475965|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&s_kwcid=AL!5616!3!426684131165!!!network}!309736475965!&gclid=CjwKCAiA9bmABhBbEiwASb35VxDM1pzQfjbRLbbV0wDnrIuXytHxQ9pcq_DSZm8uFjr7Hj8cvTuFUhoCkcMQAvD_BwE) They use Cat5 to transmit it seems. -
Hi, This is a new one for me and I can't quite wrap my head around it, was wondering if someone on here might be able to help. I am trying to do the following: CCTV NVR > Ethernet VGA Sender > MS220-48FP > MS120-48LP (In a different building) > Ethernet VGA Receiver To display an image on a connected screen. I have been told it is possible using VLANs & Trunking but I am having a bit of a brain blank today. Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Yeah, using the example. I was wary about it too but there haven’t been any complaints so far. Just might need to keep an eye on it just in case other stuff fails to sync. It’s a quick and dirty solution but it got people off my back.

So, I am playing around with Relay Rocket and have a huge blocked keywords list (around 3000). The CSV import only allows 500 items but apparently the Regex option allows for more than 500 to be added to the list. To cover all bases I would prefer to maintain the keywords list as is. Having spoken to the support team, they direct me to the following 2 sites, Regex Cheat Sheet & https://www.regular-expressions.info/ through their community support page. My technical knowledge can't make much sense of this so I have come here for some help. Does anyone have any experience of this?

So, we have been experiencing the same issue with our users, having done a bit of research, I have found a quick and dirty solution (?) I have one of my users testing at the moment but the gist is: Exclude 'tempSimsRpt' in onedrive app settings, ⚠ WARNING it will be deleted locally, if the directory has content you need you can just make a copy Open SIMS and run a report to recreate the folder. An error will prompt in OneDrive constantly but it can be ignored until a cleaner solution is available (apparently an ignore folder/file option is being investigated. All criticism, possible problems this may cause, or if it is just plain stupid response are welcome..

I have this morning been tasked with finding a solution to a non problem. I have been asked to look into the possibility of a software based solution for reporting staff absences. Currently the Headteacher is sent a text message or called by the staff member reporting their absence. Apparently this is too much to collate as we have a large number of staff absences. I have been asked to find a software/cloudbased solution to the problem, either with a messaging system or an app based interface that staff can use that will collate the information in an easy to read setup. Anyone have any ideas?

My network manager has posted on another site this very weird problem we are having: "Hi all, I'm mostly just thinking out loud here but would really appreciate any thoughts. Since Monday 25 Feb a handful (8 out of 250) users have been experiencing an issue opening Office files (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) from a network share. The share in question their network home folder, to which their Documents folder has been redirected. If Office files are opened from other network drives (mappings) or shares (UNC paths) then the problem does not present itself. The error is 'sorry, we couldn't find \\server\path\file name is it possible it was moved, renamed or deleted. However, attempting to open the file again, immediately after receiving the error, will allow the file to be opened. The clients are all Windows 10 1803. They are either using Office 2016 Pro Plus or Office 365 Pro Plus, no permissions have changed on the network share and the users can browse the entire path. If I move their docs back to local machine and then 'move' to OneDrive client the problem disappears. Long-term this will be the strategy but moving 250 users redirected files and folders isn't an overnight option. Has anyone else come across this? Recently or at all?" So, since this initial post the users affected count has increased and in some instances a user can attempt to open the file up to 8 times (so far reported) before it will open. The moving of files to OneDrive also seems to have only worked for a while and for some users that the setting is applied to. A logged DCOM error in Event Viewer was investigated that presented at the same time as the file access but this also only temporarily or did not resolve the issue. Any help, pointers or similar experiences welcome.

I have found a few references to it being an issue with fast boot being enabled in the power settings. I have been investigating in one of our classrooms and have managed to also changed the error in the device manager to 'Unknown USB Device (Set Address Failed)' by changing Power Options - USB Settings - USB Selective suspend setting and set it to 'Disabled' However most information that I have managed to locate from good has something to do with fast boot being enabled on the device but the option is only visible when hibernation is turned on (from elevated command prompt type 'powercfg /h on') and the option for fast boot will be available if you go into the power settings in the control panel and 'Choose what the power buttons do' on the left menu. Then change settings that are currently unavailable then untick 'Turn on fast startup' and reboot. Not been able to fully test this at the moment but will be today.

We are also experiencing the same issue here. I am investigating and will let you know if I find anything. I have found that the E70 will work if it is connected directly into the computer rather than a wall mounted AV unit (USB extension/HDMI etc.)

InVentry Staff Sign-In Quick Scan System
MrMDStreet replied to MrMDStreet's topic in How do you do....it?
Ah, therein lies the problem. We no longer pay for the support part of the package as we are looking to move to a different system when fund become available. -
Not sure if this is the right place but it seems to be the place where previous posts were. We have an Inventry system with a stand alone "quick scan" system. We have changed our servers recently as part of an upgrade and updated our IP range. The systems no longer sit on the old range and both have DHCP reservations but they do not seem to be communicating with each other. Does anyone have any idea how to get this up and running again?

I was honestly not expecting a legitimate technical response to this. We are using a Microsoft RAS for the VPN. The only thing that i could come up with was connecting the printer by USB.

25/02/16 – 16:25 (The User) “Michael I need to be able to print to my personal home printer but I can’t. Is this something you can fix for me today pls?” 25/02/16 – 16:36 (My Response) “Is there any particular reason? The drivers may not be available on the system if it is causing an issue. You were made a local administrator so you should be able to install the drivers from the CD. However, if it is a wireless printer, it is likely to be because you are connected to the VPN.” 25/02/16 – 18:21 (The User) OK Michael “Hadn’t thought of the vpn causing some issues. I need however the vpn access as that’s where I am trying to print from Maybe we can catch up tomorrow and I will aim to work around for now” Can anyone help me with this little gem? I have no words to describe the variety of emotions and solutions to this issue.

Are you redirecting the Start Menu? This helped with our users. With the redirected Start Menu structure you can then have icons display but not pin. You can then construct your pinned Start Menu from there.

Hi, Have you got anywhere with this? We have been experiencing the same issue and I have noticed a few things. If the user has two workstations (example being our teachers have a classroom desktop and a laptop for PPA time) if the teacher logs into the desktop and switches user or locks the device for a cover teacher, then proceeds to use their laptop it causes sync issues. This is linked to the fact that our teachers love using sticky notes or anything that is linked within the appdata folder. Do you redirect the appdata folder? Do they work across multiple devices?
-
I could never get on with folder redirection. It was save me some trouble but at the moment it's not really a big issue, they have their mapped "s:\" drive and if they chose to save things on the desktop or the local documents folder, that's their own fault. I have come to the conclusion that me trusting them to not install an insane amount of search bars and attempt to farm bitcoins from their machine is something that is never going to happen. However, I have a new boss soon, so my hard work could be for nothing.
