Inventory Management - On a Budget

Can anyone recommend a low cost Inventory Management solution?

A lot of schools I manage simply use Excel but would like a more efficient solution with the ability to add bar codes along with Serial Numbers and Makes and Models and room numbers of course.

 

inFlow Inventory is something I stumbled across which is free but seems to be aimed more at stock.

 

Any suggestions would be great.

We also use GLPI as our helpdesk to keep things linked together.

That looks interesting! Does this have the facility to go out onto the network and automatically gain assets like spiceworks or have you got to manually import the data?

I forgot to subscribe to my own post so didn't realise anyone had posted.

 

Bar-code scanning via ipad is the kind of thing that I'm after therefore adding and subtracting items on the move.

Spiceworks - lets you drill down get some detail.. nice reporting features FREE!

would you be able to share your Database layout? we just got filemaker adv 13 a few weeks ago and are still getting the hang of it, I really don't want to use a prebuilt template...

And what's in it for me? after 10 years of development, I don't see many developers giving their work away for free at every request.

I got hired at a large publishing firm three months ago to implement this system. So what will you do?

 

(They also wanted me to manage their other filemaker systems, but that's another story entirely…)

Had a busy year so haven't been able to catch up on the suggestions until now. I think I'll start with ITDB as it looks simplistic enough for others to access whereas the others may confuse the likes of people round these parts.
