This looks like the phone I want, but it looks too good to be true.

 

The spec details the new mtk6595 chip for 4G LTE which is my main criteria.

 

I would have the UMI x3 but it is far too big for me, even this is a bit on the big side IMHO.

 

Any thoughts?

Anybody know of other manufacturers using this chip yet?

Thanks for posting that up. I've been waiting for phones with MTK6595 to arrive for some time now. They are due to be a game changer in bringing the price of smartphones down to consumer levels.

It'll be interestng to see how it holds up. If you do get one, let us know how you get on with it please. Oh, and tell us how good the retailer is as well. Always handy to know when buying from China.

Look very tempting in description. However i feel 8GB ROM is not really enough for that high specs. At least 16GB would do. Not sure about the Expandable storage with MicroSD Card too. Please report back. :rolleyes:

You have to remember guys that this is a 'China phone'. I've had two now and tbh, they have both done exactly what they have said on the tin. They are never of the most recent spec, but this new MediaTek chipset should be a great leveller.

They do cut corners to keep costs down such as using Bluetooth 2.0 instead of 4.x and incorporating low storage capacities; relying on SD cards to bump this up. However, both phones I've ordered and used have done sterlign serivce and are both going strong. Battery life is the same as per mainstream smartphones and you will have to charge them everyday if you have all of the bells and whistles turned on, however they also have the benefit of having removable batteries and often you will get two of them!

Oh, and not one, to date, has caught fire ;)

out of stock atm, I have the hongmi red rice (quad core) is it is great, really nice pictures and videos and fast as, can't imagine what the octo core speed would be like - like to hear about battery life on them though - can't see buying another mainstream phone again.

Mine has apparently been shipped! Looking forward to seeing what it can do.

It is not the octo core specifically, but the 9695 chip with the LTE built in that I want.

No, I spoke with my bank, set up another bank account. If I make purchases that are foreign or I do not know the source, I use that account, as it has limited funds and only has what I put in from my main account.

Well, it arrived.

But, It was NOT the phone I was looking for.

it is one of these Original OFONE P7 5.0 inch screen Octa Core 2.0G Dual SIM Android smartphone 13MP In stock Free Shipping-in Mobile Phones from Electronics on Aliexpress.com

 

And on top of that, the Phone processor is not as advertised. It is supposed to be MTK6595 It reports as a MTK6592 in some tools. It reports as MTK6572 faked as a MTK6592 in others. MTK6572 is only a Dual core This is advertised as Octo core. Cheap phone with fake and incorrect sales information!
