Finding 'humour' in such unfortunate circumstances is, I feel, distasteful at best.

She was posting about her family and child right up until yesterday. No matter how much people may not have liked her, this shows a very tragic side to the story.

You know, I had no idea she was even married let alone a Mother of two. Will be interesting to find out how she died. Her Twitter feed isn't exactly filled with suicidal thoughts - it looks like the Twitter feed of every other young mum in my friends list 'Oh look, the kids doing stuff' - looks perfectly normal. We'll probably find out it was some sort of undiagnosed heart condition or blood clot or something. It would certainly be easier on her family than if there was foul play or drugs involved. We may find out that it was one of those unexplained things or an undiagnosed heart complaint. It is annoying me the way all the speculation is about her taking drugs etc when as far as I know there is no recent evidence to that effect. She seems to have been a very happy wife and mother. It is very very sad.

The speculation may have become from two things, 1. Her mother died of an overdose so people assume she went the same way 2. While watching the Channel 4 news last night with my mum they said she had died of an overdose. Though apparently this was not the case and they may have got the wrong end of the stick.

I really liked Peaches and the way she stuck up for herself against Katie was legendary, it's a sad, sad case and my love goes out to her Children and Husband!

I think many will read between the lines and assume it is drugs. If you read the BBC item it is full of implications about overdoses and drugs. Sad that so many people need to know before it is official. Whatever the cause it's a sad thing to happen to her family.

Why? It's just as valid to make jokes about this as it is to make jokes about everything else. It's just a question of knowing where you're making the jokes and to whom.

I don't think it is secondary grief to show a bit of respect to a young woman in the prime of her life. I also find it offensive when jokes go around when someone dies or there is some sort of tragedy. It says more about the person making the joke than it does about the person at the receiving end of it.

Wtf? Secondary grief? What the hell? Showing some respect for a young woman who has left a husband and 2 tiny kids behind by not thinking a joke is funny.

 

With ppl repeating lyrics from a certain Geldof song it's hugely disrespectful. If anyone was doing that to anyone else I'd feel the same way it's a disgraceful carry on. Yes make the joke if you have to with ppl you know but to post it under the story it's pretty reprehensible the poor girl wasn't even cold at the time.

 

It's not secondary grief it's showing some empathy for someone else's feelings.

I'm inclined to agree. Showing respect for a young mum is one thing but histrionics and outpourings of sorrow over a woman you didn't know smacks of attention seeking. Offering condolences and good wishes to her family is perfectly acceptable, wailing like you lost your sister is something else entirely. Just because she was in the media limelight doesn't make her any different to the hundreds of young mums that die every day from terminal illnesses, sudden death or accident. Yes it's sad, but no need to go over the top about it.

 

I don't think jokes about a dead person are ever appropriate really.

 

Perhaps there is something wrong with me, My sense of empathy is skewed or something but actually I have far less empathy for tragedies in my own species than I do for feline related issues. I cried for days over that poor kitten that demonic woman microwaved and I felt very sad about the Tiger whose cub drowned, yet stories of people I don't know dying really don't bother me. I really don't care.
