We have 16 ipads in RE, unsure how they are set up and managed as the teacher that did so leftleast year. We now need to start again with them after students have been able to change everything. We also have another 35 that they decided to get in without thinking first or even speaking to us in ICT, no suprise there then.

So I am looking for a recommendation for an MDM solution to manage these. I require 3 different profiles and if possible manage over wifi otherwise it will have to be via a Windows Solution but we do have a Mac Server however we cant sync using that.

Thanks in advance

@Graham-Millgate thanks for replying. As an update i have Meraki setup and have looked at that however we appear to have purchased Lightspeed already, unknown to me. Will update once NM gives me the details

We looked at them all - Meraki, Lightspeed and Airwatch and eventually went with the latter.

No system is perfect and is reliant on the API's available from Apple. The latest IOS was include additional MDM features but from what I can see nothing extra appears to be available.

If you have a Mac server, just use Profile Manager.

As an update there is no MDM solution that enables you to lock down an ipad suitable for education purposes. ie I only want the apps showing and the students not able to touch the settings app, unfortunately this is not possible. The reason we want to block this is to stop students switching the wifi on or off and by changing to different connections as well as removing the option to change the background picture.

That is correct. What you can do though is use Configurator to install profiles that can't be removed including for the WiFi. As long as your other WiFi SSIDs aren't open, there is no way they can connect to them (without a password). Yes, they could turn the WiFi off, but just create a short two page doc showing how to turn the WiFi on and post it up around the place. Screensteps works well for this. Also, if you have a small sync and charge cart or bay you can hook them into Configurator at least once a week and this will reset everything, including the home screen/background.
