I wanted to make sure that everybody who entered had a link to the video so they could all have the experience of seeing if they won in a "live" sort of way with a bit of suspense for themselves (and of course drive some traffic to our website, I admit). There were many entrants so I sent it to all of you, but I should have filtered out those of you active on the thread since I posted the video here. You didn't need to be reminded after all. My apologies. Al

I'd hate to think we were being intrusive with our marketing. It's a fine line between increasing brand awareness and making a pest of yourself sometimes. Something I'll have to keep a close eye on as we grow. Little scares like this can be a timely reminder to check yourself before you make a big mistake later on, so thanks, basically! You know those high tech "spreadsheet" things that I use to administrate these competitions (I've talked about these before - keep up). I'm applying a dangerous dark art known as "conditional formatting" to burn duplicate entries and guesses from out of the face of reality*, so you'd have smelled sulphur and felt your fingers singe if you'd typed in a number already guessed. Yeah but I want to see the duplicate highlighted first so I can let the user know they need to guess again or that they guessed twice and the 2nd one doesn't count. Then I delete it. Al

VeryPC Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 That's soooo Al @VeryPC I actually wanted to use a heavy rock to represent each guesser with a collection of small stones placed on top totalling your estimate. I would arrange these artfully in a local park and pop down there to add another whenever anyone made a guess, checking carefully that the number was not already gone by going round and counting each pile again. I wouldn't write your names on each boulder; instead I would memorise the shapes and sizes and associate that with my mental image of each contestant, reinforcing these connections with a careful inspection and meditation session each time I visited. THAT would be soooooooo Al at VeryPC. I say I was going to do the above, but then I thought: Nah, be quicker in Excel. Al 3
