Wife came home yesterday to say that Ofsted would be in her/my sons school today and tomorrow

Apparently all the teaching staff were running around like blue assed flies

 

So glad I don't need to worry about all this now!

Can you imagine if dentists worked the same as teachers, only worked to the standard required when they had inspectors over their shoulders?

Ofsted need to be able to show up unannounced - a much better picture of teaching standards would then be seen

Would also stop the stress levels for staff having to run around like headless chickens the day before, as well as the stress levels of the IT staff who get inundated with support calls that have been festering for months, but are now an urgent priority...

It is the one time of every few years Teachers get to run around like we do nearly every day.

I forsee myself being shouted down here but I disagree.

 

The problem with Ofsted inspections are a cycle of unrealistic expectations followed by a 'special show' put on by schools, as standards go up, Ofsted expectations go up, schools then put on a bigger 'show', as standards go up further...blah blah blah and both sides know that its all a charade but we all join in the merry Ofsted tango.

 

Rather than up the stakes further, what would be better is if realistic expectations were put to schools so they didn't have act their way through Ofsted.
