Frog to Moodle

Hi all,

Currently, the school I am based at uses Frog 3 as its VLE. However since Frogtrade are pushing their new FrogOS system, we want out, as it no longer supports our needs.

 

And so, we're looking at moving across to Moodle.

 

I was wondering if anyone has done this sort of thing themselves, or if they would recommend Moodle.

I think like any VLE, it will be what you make of it.

 

Do you know if your content is SCORM compliant currently, in a standard that can be packaged and moved. The bottom line is there is no magic button to press and everything appears in your new system.

 

One of the keys too will be linking it up to your MIS, which I guess you currently do with Frog? To get your timetable, courses and students in there.

I'm not a big fan of Moodle - it maybe open source and free but the interface is pretty clunky and dated. Having said that, I haven't looked at Frog for a long while so I don't know if its any better!

 

If you do decide on Moodle, then don't use WebAnywhere to implement it!

I agree Moodle is a little clunky and requires the administration. If you have the budget from the Frog outgoings maybe it could be better used on another provider, i'm always one for getting a demo in on site.

I was thinking of moving (Frog3 has been abandoned and still take 20 clicks to achieve anything) but I was seriously looking at O365 it'll do most of the things you need. It has online SharePoint. Old SharePoint was and probably is what most schools used before frog and Moodle. It can make websites host files and has a loan / booking files system.

Another vote for Office 365 here! Add RM Unify over the top with RM's Site Creator tool and it's a winner! I maybe biased due to the 170 schools we are working with but tie this together with the massive amount of other apps and services you can bring in (I am Learning, Classroom Monitor, Accelerated Reader etc etc) its a winner!

Sorry about the long delay in getting back to you about this - I completely missed the mention alert!

 

Anyway, to answer you question I am not particularly impressed with webanywhere or their products. I have posted a couple of times on here about the issues I and my web admin have had and it never seems to get any better. We still have some very annoying issues that have yet to be resolved and every time they release an update or patch something else breaks.

 

I certainly couldn't recommend them particularly given how much they charged us for the system.
