Hello,

We're looking at dumping TV entirely. Currently have Virgin through cable (FTTC then coax), but frankly the saving's aren't that massive when you take the TV package off.

I assume BT's infinity is also FTTC not FTTP so the last couple of hundred feet runs on copper.

Assuming a house had issues with ADSL 2+ and the issue was never resolved whether it was the copper in the house, the copper to the cab or just a shitty exchange would BT's fibre be a risk?

Having Infinity installed means a new faceplate and a vdsl modem so unless they are confident it will work they won't install it so I'd give it a go openreach will sort the problem.

I'm waiting for the local infinity install to come online so I can order :)

Check where you live to make sure you can get a decent speed. My BT Infinity is capped at 12 down and 0.5 up making Twitch stream hosting unusable. :(

How is it capped? They don't advertise caps anywhere. They do say that the speed is determined by line length and quality though.

That's the highest speed my exchange can handle sadly. I say capped because it is nowhere near the promised 40+ that their adverts claim...

I'm still waiting to get it available. Even though the vans have been around and we have stickers on the cabs claiming it is coming. Every time I check the site the date is at the end of the time frame given or slipped. This has been happening since July. We now have an expected install in our area of January to March.

Same here. They've put the new Cab in, and its got a sticker on up the road, but nothing on our box yet...

sometimes with infinity the exchange and cab are enabled but the card(s) for connection are full. My cabinet I noticed was accepting orders at 5am (couldn't sleep thought checking would waste 2 mins. By 5pm that day the card they put in was full they have since installed 2 more cards after the second one filled up as well (this was early December)
