I think you ask about each system separately depending on which is being used. It would be interesting to gauge the opinion of the person on which they prefer and also whether there are plans to change, or if they've changed in the past.

Also, possibly worth differentiating local cloud or was that done.

Perhaps you could do your own piece of research to find out what you'd like to know :-)

I have filled this in from the point of view of someone that has worked closely with many schools over many years :) very interested in the results.

Thanks to all who have participated. Would just like to bump this to the top of the board in case anyone missed it. I could really do with some more data on the cloud based MIS users, so if anyone who has completed this already has colleagues who work on the cloud based MIS and who may not have seen this post, then please pass it on.

Thanks again for your ongoing support :-)

There arent a huge number of schools using cloud based solutions and as a proprtion to local hosted it will be very small. So infact the proprtion you are seeing in your responses may reflect the larger picture

Hi Mark, thanks for that.

It may be shocking for some of you, but I am aware of this issue. However, there are more than 4 people in the UK using a Cloud based MIS, hence my request for those of the participants using the cloud to pass the survey onto their colleagues.

Can you not send it out through work? I mean if they are supporting you couldn't it be sent out to Progresso users. Or is that the 4 already accounted for. :getmecoat:

But seriously, I can see how they would really benefit from your findings so might let you send it direct to a list of contacts they have.

Hi everyone,

I've had so many responses so thank you so much.

I've activated 4 more questions to the survey that are all about you (age, gendarme job role and experience). It will allow me to enhance my statistical analysis as I will be able to analyse why certain demographics answer in certain ways.

Please (where possible) complete this survey from the same IP address that you used to answer the other questions as this will allow me to marry up your answers with the previous answers.

Thanks for your ongoing support :-)

I fail to see what significance gender has to do with your survey. The small number of female techs would give you no statistical significance... even if you did see that the handful who responded had chosen differently to the males.

And yes I am a female tech who answered your survey who has worked in the IT industry since the early 1980s.

Be careful what conclusions you draw!!

I'm not necessarily using gender for inferential statistical analysis, however if only a small percentage of females responded to my questions it may affect the external validity of my findings.

Be careful what presumptions you make!!

Surely it has to reflect the makeup ( :p ) of the market and there are fewer female techs. Even so the validity shouldn't be in question unless you're arguing gender has an indirect effect on their opinion

Only that he needs to be sure he has sufficient answers for statistical significance.

If only a small percentage of females respond to the questionnaire, clearly this would run the risk of a type two error in the analysis. However without knowing the gender of the people answering the questions, how do we know we have a sufficient number of a certain gender without asking the question? Edited by tholding
