I've read up lots but there's nothing like asking the people that have actually done it and made it work in a school.

Far better than all the cheap products out there and works across Apple, Android, have a mobile guest portal users can login to also and print on a BYOD wireless. Any questions ask. Also if you have PaperCut you can integrate the both at a cost. 1

A really simple way is to download an app which can allow you to send a doc attached to an email to a print@ email address and the printer will then print the attachment. You cant edit the print perameters etc but it is a simple solution which allows BYOD too. Thus allowing staff to use their personal smartphones/tablets too. Not sure on windows network im afraid.

I believe you can also use WebDAV, but this is out of favour and not generally recommended by most on here. A browser based file system explorer makes most sense to me - in theory that could be rolled into a native app to make it even easier. We use our own PHP web interface for this, which the students also use at home. Not the perfect solution as things like video clips are not easy to transfer across, but not found better yet. Another VERY effective way is with MobilEcho, which has fantastic features and integrates seamlessly with Windows file servers (or NAS boxes, or Mac or Linux file servers, or SharePoint, or all at the same time). As for printing, I would look at Xprintserver http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html as it is much cheaper than many of the other solutions mentioned and doesn't require setting up any software on a Mac or Windows server, it's a pure drop-in hardware solution. 1
CESIL Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Learnpad has the ability to connect to network shares. I even was able to create a QR code to automate copying all photos to a share. I believe the next version will include an option for users to connect to their own user to connect to their network home folder by scanning a barcode.

There are people on Edugeek far more experienced than me who will be able to advise on setting it up. We have a mini mac which was set up by a really fab chap in the Bristol area who used to work as a school NM then went on to set up his own Mac advisory company. Very unfortunately he has been snapped up by the commercial world now it seems and all my attempts to contact him fail nowadays.

When I inquired about a trial they just needed to know the FQDN and the hyper visor I used, then they just sent me a link. Cant remember the pricing but compared to the faff and messing around with others and then the supporting of the service, I thought it was worth the money.
