sqdge Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Today is my last day as an EduGeek for some time (possibly for ever). I'll keep reading and posting on the forum, but it will no doubt feel strange that you're having all the fun while I go and move to America to get married (naturally, you're all invited), possibly live in a nice house with a swimming pool (you're not invited), get a better paid job etc. Yeah, I imagine there will be times when all I want to do is draw a network diagram, or get my hands covered in printer toner, or wipe sick off a keyboard. I will be envious of you. Don't pretend to have a miserable time just for my sake - EduGeek is here so that you can all celebrate how worthwhile, rewarded, and respected you feel in your job. It's clearly also here to marvel at how well-made, well-designed, and well-supported modern technology and educational software is - and it will be sad for me not to be able to fully join in with those frivolities. But I will try - maybe I'll invent a school of my own, just so that I feel back at home with you guys. I'll stop now, lest my tears short circuit the keyboard. (although the above post seems a little sarcastic, I did quite enjoy my time as Network Manager, and if it wasn't for peskily getting engaged, I would still be probably working as that)

They will, as it their way, try to win it all over again. Let them. Then point out to them that, at the time, they were, strictly speaking, still English. Gets them every time.

What you don't know is that there was apparently a very close vote on whether they should retain English as the official language or German.. From what I remember there was around 1 or 2 votes in it. So the Germans narrowly missed the age old annoyance of being asked "Language: German (USA)"

I've been told to pack for the desert...but it might snow (so I've just bunged everything into a suitcase). I will be getting a job out there, and it will probably be in a school - whether I go down the IT or Maths route (or both) is not yet decided. As for annoying an American, I've had quite a lot of practise at it (after all, the future Mrs. Sqdge is one) - I find heavy use of sarcasm to be quite effective / detrimental to one's health.
