It prays on most people fear of not understanding technology. It Tells the uninformed viewer absolutely nothing in how to protect the household.

Its got my attention but apart from that found it pretty useless.

I would expect it to be used as just that - an attention grabber and focus for further discussion. It does make the viewer think about the sort of people you invite into your home via the internet

Honestly, I don't think this would promote further discussion from Joe Bloggs Public, just a panic response. The fact that it makes people consciously aware that they know nothing of technology/the internet/protective measures and that will frighten them more into 'unhealthy' choices such as banning their kids from talking to anyone or knee-jerk downloading dodgy software that already preys on this fear.

Personally I think that e-safety should stop trying to use shock/fear tactics as much as they do and further actual discussion, well-written guides in laymen's terms. Yes, sometimes we need the 'shock' of "Hey, this thing actually happened! Make sure you know what's going on!" but without decent information on how to do that, this doesn't help the average end user at all. I know there are some documents out there, but there are sparingly few that seem to be written by people that know what they're doing, aimed at people that don't.

I don't think its meant to be watched by itself. When we viewed it there was a pack of information and an assembly on it with a lot more information on the buttons along with another 2 videos.

Yeah this is taken out of context. Its meant to be used in conjunction with other material like *bam* here's the shock, now here's what you can do.

We have used it for staff meetings, parent meetings and assemblies.
