Danp Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 We have noticed that any Mac that has updated to Mavericks does not work on external HTTPS websites through the proxy. The school only owns a couple but the students have their own and I have tested the issue with my own.
Danp Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Ok, not a fix as such, but its now working... Stuck this into terminal sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.UserNotificationCenter.plist Then again to load sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.UserNotificationCenter.plist Rebooted machine and now it works
jimmckenna Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Hi, Have you checked that in network settings that the box has also been ticked for HTTPS through a proxy? Not got mavericks but had issues with earlier MAC. Cheers
Danp Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Hi, Have you checked that in network settings that the box has also been ticked for HTTPS through a proxy? Not got mavericks but had issues with earlier MAC. Cheers Yes, with the username and password in place for both https and http
Danp Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 Balls, that did not fix the issue, it's happening again.
Danp Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 It works fine with Firefox or Chrome, it's an Safari issue.
Marci Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 It's a well-known issue too... http://helpdesk.monivae.vic.edu.au/selfhelp/downloads/tuts/mac/other/Loading%20HTTPS%20websites%20in%20OS%20X%20Mavericks%20(10.9).pdf https://discussions.apple.com/message/23474534#23474534 Plenty other links out there documenting it. No guaranteed fixes, bar switching browser until an official patch is released.
Marci Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Ah - apparently, open Keychain Access, find the stored entry for your HTTPS proxy credentials in the LOGIN keychain, and copy and paste it into the SYSTEM keychain...? https://discussions.apple.com/message/23757366?tstart=0#23757366?tstart=0 1
Danp Posted November 15, 2013 Author Posted November 15, 2013 He posted that to my thread on there too, but I have not tried it again since.
kesomir Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Still waiting for a fix to be released for this - it affects the app store as well, so can't sign in on those machines either and stop the 50 'sign in the the app store' messages from appearing on logon. Come on apple.
