Hi, One of our smart Unifi 55 projectors is producing a speckled effect right across the screen. - Appears to be tiny white and black specs. Anyone know what is causing it? Thanks

Yep totally agree with @synaesthesia - just had one gone the same way. Totally annoying as the bulb had just been replaced. Replaced it with a nice Hitachi unit supplied by Mike Hunchliffe at Misco fitted by Matthew Bray Audio Visual of Newbury. Totally satisfied, Misco delivered it the day after we ordered it and Matthew fitted it perfectly in an extremely difficult location for a very reasonable price. The quotes I had for a sort of like for like replacement from elsewhere were a shed load higher than what we ended up paying. Edited by speckytecky

Had three projectors go like this in the last year. All were DLP projectors and none of them even made it to a bulb change. Either bad luck or just DLP's for you?

Out of interest what projector did you use with that retro kit?

Been through this a lot with our SMART UF75s recently. It is the DMD/DLP chip, we have been replacing the chip. Its a bit of a pain but at a cost of around £110 per chip (ebay) and an hours worth of your time, it still out ways the cost of a new projector (for us anyway), and if your up to it, its a bit of fun.

Pic of chip shows the embedded dodgy pixels on the mirror, after the fix the projectors are like new, nice quality image and bright. Only done these a couple of weeks ago but seem to be good.

Sorry about quality of pic.
