Sophos renewal

Our current licence for sophos enterprise is due for renewal soon. Can anyone reccommend a reseller that is 'competitively' priced. Have used Pugh previously and have been delighted with their service but would be interested to see if anyone is offering better pricing.

Our Sophos currently comes free of charge from Wiltshire LEA; might be worth checking if your LEA have a similar arrangement?

Previously we licenced through Viglen I believe.

We get ours through an LEA Group Buy, something like £1.86 a PC but not certain.

Last time the LEA told me I had one room that the Norton was due for renewal on and that renewal was more than the cost of my sophos 250 client licence.

 

Ok I've had some quotes for this based on 400 clients:

 

NOD32 is:

 

1 Year £ 1817.00

2 Year £ 2725.00

3 Year £ 3633.00

 

Sophos is:

 

1 Yr 4.62 each (x 400 = £1848.00)

2 Yr 6.94 each (x 400 = £2776.00)

3 Yr 9.25 each (x 400 = £3700.00)

5 Yr 13.86 each (x 400 = £5544.00)

 

Sophos comes with their client firewall app as well.

you could try celler systems and the otherone is caretower.

 

I dont have any contacts for these places, but i know we do our big AV(McAfee) renewals via them

We use nod 32, it is very quirky, almost to the point of being the most horrible bit of software I have had to learn ever.

 

Once you get you hear around the really strange names for normal features it seems to work ok. PC Pro did not like it that much, rating it lower than The free version of AVG. Its detection rates let it down.

 

On a positive side it blocked a poisoned website yesterday that I stumbled apon which is a nice feature.

 

The network admin side of things works very well once you have set up your auto update folders and custom installation. Its quick to install over the network, but can only install to one PC at a time. Each PC takes 20 seconds or so. It will however hunt down PCs which are not protected at the press of a button.

 

It does not lock computers up like sophos was starting to which is nice

Just had another quote this time for Panda 400 clients for £2000.

 

Anyone using or used panda?

I've used Panda here (200+ clients) for the last two years... When I trialled it the detection rates were far better than Sophos. It also covers spyware which Sophos didn't at the time and we were given the standalone titanium product for laptops.

On the downside, the admin console has never been nice to use and I sometimes feel it uses too much system resources on the clients.

I'm due for renewal this year so am trialling NOD32, which seems very light on system resources which is good. I have also asked Kaspersky and Avira for quotes which are the other two that seem to score well in independent tests. I have also deployed a couple of desktops with clamwin installed - set to scan every night, but the lack of on-access file protection will probably stop me from deploying that everywhere unfortunately...

Given the weak dollar might be worth finding yourself a reseller over the pond
