We are about to put a digital signage system into our new building and we need a PC to run it. It doesn't have to be compatible with our CC3 network as we are running XIBO. We have a Pi running our staffroom signage, but that is just pictures, this one needs to be able to do more than the Pi can, hence the need for PC. My first thought was an Acer Veriton, but these seem to be much more expensive than I remember them being! It needs to be small and Vesa mountable above a suspended ceiling. Additionally we don't have RDP capability, so thin client is not an option. 'Elp

crc-ict Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I'm doing exactly what you want to achieve using some Asus EeeBox EB1035 units (these: Asus EB1035 B002M Eee Box Desktop PC / Intel Celeron 847 / 2GB / 320GB / Windows 8 / 1 Year Collect and Return Warranty (EB1035-B002M) - www.misco.co.uk) I 'downgraded' them to Windows 7, did some tweaks to prevent sleeping etc, installed Xibo client and its good to go. They have a useful BIOS 'power on time' setting which I use to put them on at 7.30 each morning and then kill them off at 6pm with a scheduled task. They come on every day, so at the weekends I have another scheduled task to kill them at 7.35. It works well for us so far. 1

Oaktech Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 We bought a dc7900 to use, but the powers that be have changed their mind and the screens are no longer signage, they show sky sports! With hindsight, I should have just bought an Intel NUC!

Asgard Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 We have 20 of the Asus Revo RL70/RL80 's with Win7 on them running xibo for our digital signage , most of them hidden above the ceeling tile above the TV, some are directly behind the TV.
