CESIL Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I have just heard a message left by a parent explaining why her daughter is not at school today... "She has got concussion after being hit on the head when children were chucking acorns around in the playground. I have taken her to the hospital and they have said she should be kept quiet today because of the concussion" I haven't laughed as hard for ages... 1
AMLinington Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 LOL perhaps it is unfortunate wording - it said she had been hit on the head - it didn't specify that it was an acorn that hit her - more like another kid elbowed her or smacked her over the head with their arm/hand or whatever.
laserblazer Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 The acorn was still attached to the branch.
Sunnyknight Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 The acorn was still attached to the branch. Lol. I think that says it all
CESIL Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 I have just listened to the message again and she did say "...hit on the head by an acorn..." I think we had better issue hardhats for when the conkers start dropping... 1
Popular Post sippo Posted October 3, 2013 Popular Post Posted October 3, 2013 Thats ace. The best one I heard was when someone was late. 'I left my bedroom window open over night, and the fog came in so I couldn't see my alarm clock....' 6

I think we had better issue hardhats for when the conkers start dropping... Considering the way I've seen kids chucking conkers [like at the bus in the morning...] I'm not surprised the kid has a concussion.

An overprotective bubble-wrap mother perchance?

Well if it had been a conker then.... Actually I don't think most of the kids here (a junior school) can throw anything very hard being from the soft games console generation There may be a case here though for doing some physics lessons to show that something as light as an acorn will bruise but not concuss due to it's lack of mass...

witch Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Sorry to interupt your collective sniggering, but if the acorn was flung quite hard and hit the child on the temple rather than another bit of the head it could well cause concussion.

That's what I was saying. Sort of. I've seen windows smashed with a well aimed conker.
Rawns Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 The acorn was still attached to the branch. Bet the branch was attached to an even bigger branch... or even the acorn tree!!!!
X-13 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 My god, where is this discussion going lol Welcome to Edugeek. Where the OP doesn't matter and the logical progression is made up.
sonofsanta Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 the acorn tree!!!! You mean... an oak tree? Youth of today, don't know nothing about nature, too busy on their Grand Theft Autos and their Call of Duties to know what a tree looks like. If you ever saw an oak for real you'd just be all like, ooh, look at that ambient occlusion, ooh that anti-aliasing is amazing. Pfft. 1

Miscbrah Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I have taken her to the hospital and they have said she should be kept quiet today because of the concussion They also probably said "you're an idiot, get out of my A&E." Some of your tax money got spent then on this person.

I don't have GTA5 and don't like the COD series either! I'll just go with 'a moment of stupidity'.
Flatpackhamster Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Sorry to interupt your collective sniggering, but if the acorn was flung quite hard and hit the child on the temple rather than another bit of the head it could well cause concussion. I've been searching for "MY BRUTAL ACORN HELL" on the tabloid newspaper sites and have been unable to track down any cases of acorn concussion. So far.
SYNACK Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 The acorn was still attached to the branch. Maybe they weren't the tree kind, they should cause a nasty concussion
