STK91 Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Hi, We currently have 450 iPads on Meraki SM & all was working great until iOS 7 came along...some of our students have upgraded and some of them have lost the profiles applied (now they are unrestricted, iMessage, FaceTime) etc .. when we try and re-apply the profile it fails. Does anybody know when Meraki will be supporting iOS7? Anybody else got similar issues? Cheers.
localzuk Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 It isn't working properly on my test iOS7 iPad. It had the profile still after update, but fails to comply with the rules.
jamesmay Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 You didn't get the multiple emails saying not to upgrade then¬
AngryTechnician Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 You didn't get the multiple emails saying not to upgrade then¬ I certainly didn't. Is it the supervised restrictions that are failing or the regular ones? I only used the regular ones at the moment and they seem to be working OK for us.
SovietRussia Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 There is no word yet from Meraki yet on when iOS 7 will be fully supported
STK91 Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 No email got sent to us. Meraki are currently in the process of testing iOS 7 stuff but don't know when it will become available. Unfortunately we cannot roll back to iOS6 as apple have stopped signing it I believe.
jamesmay Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Email for iOS7 support came out this afternoon. All working on our devices now
NerdNamedMatt Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Strange. We never actually had any problems with our iPads at all. We installed on the day of IOS7 Release and profiles were never wiped, permissions stayed the same etc. We also have an MDM called Lightspeed Systems as a trial on 2 or 3 of our iPads. These were also fine upon updating.
glennda Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 IOS7 support is in the pipeline. Once I have heard a definitive date I will post asap. EDIT: interestingly according to above its supported - although I have just been told it isn't from my guy at meraki - I will be having words

AliG Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I'll keep an eye out on this post. I'm hoping some new MDM commands/features will be added soon i.e. locking down wallpapers! and applying more restrictions. One pain is kids setting an alarm for the middle of the next lesson, not sure this will be addressed though.

BSibert Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 [h=2][/h]I want to get signed up for these mysterious e-mails too. If anyone finds out where to get them, let me know. I imaged a new cart of iPads yesterday for a new class starting next week. I didn't think about unchecking the upgrade OS, so I got IOS 7 on all 25 of them. Now my Meraki won't load. On a side note, I notice my older iPads all show in Ft.Wayne Indiana for some reason now on Meraki. We are in Oklahoma, and they were showing in the correct location before. I haven't figured out why yet. This is my first year to experiment with Meraki, at the suggestion of a colleague, and I'm not sure I want to keep trying at this point.
Marci Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Just to second, a plethora of devices here all upgraded to iOS7 fine and retained all Meraki profiles and restrictions etc. Some have also since been wiped and re-setup as a new device rather than upgraded... re-enrolled with Meraki, and again, worked fine (altho some of them took a few attempts to save the profiles - invalid profile errors, but just keep retrying and eventually it works).

Meraki support told me last week that Apple haven't given them the API for iOS 7 yet, and there's no roadmap from Apple mentioning anything about new MDM features. Not sure which bucket he's had his head in for the last 6 months. Peter

Peter According to Simon Tompson at Meraki IOS 7 is reporting correctly in the dashboard - although hasn't gone into details of profiles etc.
howartp Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 According to Simon Tompson at Meraki IOS 7 is reporting correctly in the dashboard - although hasn't gone into details of profiles etc. Yes, it does show up in the iOS version, but I've not noticed any new profile settings or license deployment facilities. :-( I've read somewhere that someone reckons it now works without passwords from Meraki, but I think that's just the 15 minute timeout that existed in iOS 6. Peter
AngryTechnician Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I've read somewhere that someone reckons it now works without passwords from Meraki, but I think that's just the 15 minute timeout that existed in iOS 6. I've just been pushing apps this morning and it still wants the Apple ID password. As before, it remembers this for 15 minutes, but that's it. The confirmation prompt for each individual app is also still there.
MattGibson Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Well it looks like we're all waiting for Meraki to add the new features to the dashboard. I personally just want the Silent App install don't care if they never add the others! http://www.apple.com/uk/ios/education/
AliG Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Some IOS7 settings have now appeared and also noticed support for chrome devices i.e. chromebooks. Strange thing neither have appeared in new features or the help! 1
AngryTechnician Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Some IOS7 settings have now appeared and also noticed support for chrome devices i.e. chromebooks. Strange thing neither have appeared in new features or the help! I'm seeing the iOS7 stuff but nothing obvious to do with Chromebooks... where are you looking?
AliG Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 It appears in Monitor - Overview but the settings are in Organisation - Settings - Chrome OS Device Management
AngryTechnician Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Found it - very interesting. Looks like it pulls the data from Google Apps rather than doing the monitoring itself, but a unified monitoring console is still potentially very useful.
MattGibson Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Is anyone else annoyed about iPad 2 not supporting AirDrop? To me its Apple trying to make some revenue, it would have been brilliant for students to send work to the teachers iPad! Rather than trying to email it or send via the wireless.
