I've came across that page before, unfortunately it doesn't give me any info on how to get into the Call Barring tables for our system.

Morning all, We've been seeing issues with dialing out to 0345 numbers on our BT Meridian office phone system. Now considering the system itself is older than I am (No, I'm not kidding) BT will no longer support it and we are struggling to find how to fix this issue in the manual. Does anyone here know how to unblock or allow outgoing calls to 0345 numbers through the BT Merridian system? My google-fu has failed me on this one.

Are you running any kind of WSUS system? If so, it should list in there any installed updates to your server.

Login Scripts (along with other GPO's applied) is marked with success. Script is 100% in Computer Configuration - I've been that daft before so learnt from that one. It's been a long time since something so straight forward has baffled me so hard. Genuinely stumped. Thanks for your help by the way - I appreciate this is straightforward for most, but I'm just so confused with why it's not working.

I've tried both - MSI through the Software Deployment in GPO and .exe through a startup Script in GPO (not at the same time obviously). The folder security has Domain Computers set to read and execute so I don't get why it would be a permissions issue - although I agree that's what it looks like.

Currently using a .exe with the script mentioned, however the .msi I was trying earlier via Software Install in the GPO was direct from the tightvnc.vom website

Yes the Script will install the software and the Reg preferences when ran from an Admin account. I've tried the MSI as a software install via the GPO and I still get nothing.

Me again! Today I'm having a real hair pulling issue. I feel like I've put everything in the correct place but the system still won't pull together. Basically, I want to install TightVNC across our network using a start-up script via GPO. I had followed This Guide from FN-GM word for word and it still just doesn't work! I have: Created a share @ \\servername\Software$\GPO Applications\TightVNC where domain computers have access to read and execute. Installed TightVNC to a test machine, set up the settings I would like and exported the registry to the above share. Put the .msi installer into the above share. Copied the script in the link above, replacing their locations with ours and saving it as a .bat into the above share. Put the script into a GPO applied to the OU containing my test machines. gpupdate /force on the test machines and reboot multiple times to pull the software. And what happens? Diddly squat. I'm so confused right now it hurts - Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I second this - The guy who originally created it is perfectly capable of bringing it up to scratch, but the only way he would agree to it is if he did it full time. Can't say I blame him, he's doing 2 peoples jobs as it is.

I'm a little skeptical on what i'm about to say here but the last IT guy has told me when they asked for a price to re-write the code it was going to be somewhere around the £85k-£90k mark. As a business with a profit turnover of £250,000 a year that's a pretty big chunk to be saving for. I'm going to try and learn a little bit more about the ins and outs of the program and then go about getting quotes from freelancers myself. I don't think it should be anything like the £90k price point i've been told.

Wow - Thanks for that. Didn't actually realize this was the case. We can have up to 15 people using it at once, so a TS is pretty much out of the question. I think it's just going to be a case of using VM's to be honest, just wanted to see if anyone else had any clever ideas. Thanks all, but I think that the VM solution is going to be the only way right now. We simply can't afford to have it rewritten yet.

As a pre-warning, I don't work in education. Not sure if that is a big issue or not but hey-ho. Morning all, This one has been a huge issue since before I started this job, and now that I'm here it's taken to a whole new level. Basically, our old IT guy ( who was a jack of all trades it seems, he now runs the production line) wrote a rather large 16bit program in Superbase about 10 years ago. Now being perfectly honest, I don't know exactly what the program does, it apparently integrates with Sage somewhere along the lines and tracks how much steel we have on site for manufacturing. I'm sure it does a lot more than that, but I don't really care about the intricacies of it so long as it works. The issue I have is that we are slowly moving away from x32 machines and onto x64 machines. The 16bit software is simply not supported for x64 versions of Windows. So far my solution has been installing a VM onto the machines that require it and getting extra Licenses from VLSC which I don't really want to do (Only 3 machines so far, but still...). The company has approached different coders beforehand and asked for the project to be moved to work on x32 machines, but they were quoted ridiculous amounts of money because of how long it would take and the amount of coding required. So my question is, does anyone know of a way to get x16 software to run on x64 machines?

I can see the Wake on Lan Setting in the Scan > Advanced Settings, but it's set to off and our only scans are going off at 10pm I've completely disabled the Auto Scan feature now, will see if that changes anything in the next couple of days. - - - Updated - - - I wish - Impero actually gave you great options for WoL when I last used it.

Spiceworks sounds like the big change - It's been on the network for about a week or so. Only thing is that the WoL Feature is disabled in Spiceworks' settings, unless something in spiceworks is causing it to "Ninja" a WoL procedure. We don't run any 2012 / 2012r2 servers and IIRC SCCM is not part of 2008 and lower.

Morning All, It seems our machines are suddenly starting to WoL at about 08:00am every morning and I have no idea why! I took over the network about 2 weeks back so I'm still getting to grips with everything, but it seems something has suddenly started waking up all of the PC's on a morning. Anyone know how I can trace the source? It's going to be a tad difficult I suspect. Cheers Matt

I have already tried doing the operation via the other server, however there is no option to migrate it as there usually would be. I get the option to export a list of print servers, but no option to export printers to a file like I usually would.

Opened MMC but still no option to add PMC in. It's almost as if PMC has been completely disabled / deleted from the server.

Morning all, Long story short I took over this network about 2 weeks ago and so far it's been good, but little things like this are starting to get frustrating. We have a print server currently running on Server 2003 r2 x86, I want to move this to our backup server (also running Server 2003 r2 x86) ready to be P2V'd and eventually upgraded to Server 2012 later this year. The issue I am having is that in the past I have used the PMC to export the printers to a single file, open that up on another server and import it to the new server. On this server I can't access the PMC. It's just not there. The role is there, and all the printers are listed off in Printers and Fax Machines but the standard Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Print Management is not there. I had a read online which mentioned using a tool called printbrm.exe located at %WINDIR%\System32\Spool\Tools\Printbrm but low and behold, that location isn't there either!! I might just be having one of my moments here, but i'm baffled as to how to move it without the PMC. Any thoughts?

Firewall was the answer! - Although it's set the same for the other servers with the "Public" option unticked when I changed this option to be ticked on our DC it let me straight in from my workstation. Thanks for the help guys.

Hi All, Recently moved from Education to a small buisness (Less stress when things are working, more stress when they aren't!) and have had trouble with one of our two Domain Controllers. It's running 2008R2 and has RDP enabled, but no matter what I try I can't seem to connect to it via RDP from anywhere on site. I've checked the service is running, The limited Connected Users is set to two (No one else is connected), I can ping the DC from everywhere on site (Thank God!) and Everything is ticked to say RDP is aloud but it just does not seem to work. Any ideas would be great, at the moment its only a small walk down the hallway to the KVM if anything is required, but convenience would be great if we can get this running again.
