Hi all, I’m doing a bit of fact-finding and would really appreciate hearing how other schools are managing their staff shared drives. In particular, I’m interested in how you handle structure and permissions. For example: Do you allow staff to create folders at the root of the shared drive, or is that locked down? Do you enforce a standard folder structure (e.g. by department like Science, English, Maths), or let departments/staff organise things themselves? Who typically manages the content and structure within departments – IT, HoDs, or someone else? How are you handling permissions – open access within departments, or more granular (read/write/restricted areas)? Have you found a good balance between keeping things tidy vs giving staff flexibility? I’m reviewing our current setup and trying to decide whether to move towards a more controlled, structured approach or keep things a bit more flexible. Would be great to hear what’s working well for you (and equally anything you’ve tried that didn’t go so well!). Thanks in advance 👍

Morning all, Does anyone have any experience with extracting the assessment data from Arbor to 4 Matrix? I have tried to make a custom report which half-works but not very practical moving forwards, e.g. the report needs to be heavily edited every time. If there is another Arbor school out there that is extracting data to 4 Matrix please could you share your experience or the methods you are using?

Article: IRIS Education - It's Time For A MIS Revolution
MattGibson replied to Dos_Box's topic in Legacy CMS Comments
I couldn't think of anything worse! Since Iris has been buying up every educational company all our schools use, we have had nothing but poor service, when you do get through to someone, they have no idea about the software you are asking for support with and say that we called the wrong number. It's a real shame this has happened, some of the software/companies were great before the takeover. Wouldn't recommend any under the Iris group! My only real shock is that they haven't taken over Capita SIMS! -
Hi Everyone, We are a MAT and all our schools are connected using the same WAN so we have visibility of each site. Slowly working towards a single domain. Does anyone know if we can have one SOLUS 3 server that can manage the updates for multiple SIMS servers around the trust. We are not using SOLUS for updating clients as we use SCCM for this. I can see you can add multiple DBs within the console but when it comes to File Server & Document Management Server it only allows you to have one entry. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Bourne Education Trust (BET) is looking to recruit an experienced IT Field Engineer to join a team of 13 IT staff supporting its 16 schools. BET is an exciting place to work and one that values IT highly, having invested in its own data centre, offering central broadband, data backups, firewall, internet filtering, print management, wi-fi management and telephony services. All schools are, or will shortly be on the BET single domain, allowing a uniform experience for staff in all the schools, plus streamlined management of IT policies and improved data security. This post arises as a result of growth of the Trust, having doubled in size in the last three years and with several schools lined up to join in the next few months. This is a unique opportunity to join our forward thinking, dynamic trust. Further information about the role can be found within the attached job description. All applicants must complete an application form, CVs will not be accepted. https://www.bourne.education/391/current-vacancies/career/1103/it-field-engineer

Old thread but....Did anyone have any good reports to share? -
Completely agree with everything above. For me open source was great when you are one school and you were always onsite to resolve any issues if the system went down. When working for a MAT and you are responsible for multiple schools it’s sensible to look at a paid solution where you can lean on the external support it comes with.

Yes, we went with ITGlue. It is expensive but I do feel its worth they money (although I'd like it to be cheaper!) We had a trial of Passportal Ocular Docs, it was good and had the added functionality of changing passwords at intervals such as you domain admin account but in terms of documentation at the time was lacking compared to IT Glue. Ours is used across all 12 schools, when we on-board a new school as part of them joining the trust they need to document all information into IT Glue. There's a full audit trail should you need to see who's viewed or changed anything, we are also using the integration with Datto and that seem to be working well. Most of the assets are templated but fully customizable, let me know if you need anything else. Regards Matt

Hi Everyone, I know this is an old thread from a couple of years ago but was wondering if anything has moved on since then or if anyone is doing anything different? We can now cover this off in school by using products such as Impero however this does not work when they are at home accessing OWA. Regards Matt
