PS3/4?

If Al is on about the thread I'm thinking of, then PS4 seems likely.

And here was me thinking Al was looking for one for himself... Seems the St Phillip Neri University of Applied Shenanigans has it's first success story.

I was thinking it was for a prize,

Add me too please Al - and thanks very much for the sweeties too...

Printed, scrunched and tossed into the bucket you have been (not literally yet, just on the spreadsheet for now).

Glad to have you, and good luck!

Well done to the observant @hardtailstar and @X-13 who successfully worked out what the star prize is.

No reward for this I'm afraid, except getting to anticipate the possibility of winning it for that little bit longer than everyone else.

Official announcement to follow...

So... anyone got a link to the relevant local government guidance on gifts and the tax connotations therein? I can eat sweeties fast enough to avoid notice, but a PS4 might be a bit more difficult...

Win a PS4 in STOCKTOBER2! Entries now being taken.

Yes, it's official. The star prize in STOCKTOBER2! is an already pre-ordered Playstation 4 plus one release title game. To channel the spirit of the first Stocktober when we gave away a Wii last year, we've selected the latest most awesomest not even released yet next gen console as our prize.

The lucky winner will be sent the brand spanking so new it's not even properly real yet console as close to the release date as we can manage depending on stock availability AND get to choose a pre-order of any PS4 game from the thoroughly decent range of release titles up to a value of £60 on amazon.co.uk.

This is what will come in the box for the console:

  • PlayStation 4 Console
  • DualShock 4 Wireless Controller
  • Mono Headest
  • Power Cable
  • HDMI cable
  • USB cable

Here's a link to the Official PlayStation website: PlayStation 4, PS4 just to whet your gaming appetites.

How do you get a chance to win? If you are a UK based IT tech or manager type just EduGeek PM me your professional contact details and you will be entered into the prize draw OR if you have previously entered a VeryPC competition on EduGeek, you can save a bit of time and simply announce your wish to be included this time right here on the thread.

It doesn't stop there either. We'll be giving away one prize a day every day during October from our surplus stock of bits and bobs that we've acquired over the last 12 months with a few fun things thrown into the mix (just to keep it light, you know). There will be some sort of extremely professionally performed and produced video for each draw and if you're really lucky we might even come up with a few ad-hoc challenges for bonus prizes during the month.

If you haven't already, enter now and see if you can hold your breath for 40 days.

Join us. Joiiiiiiin usssssss!

It's not a gift it's a competition prize it's different.

Ben

But as a competition that I've only been able to enter using professional contact details on the basis of my employment here, I'm sure someone would find grounds for complaint.

Not to mention the cage matches we'd have to organise in our office to decide who would get to take it home... maybe I'm just too soft, though.

Just don't tell anyone.

@VeryPC Al, PS4 goes to my house, pls. [Gimme a heads-up on the due date so I can take the time off.]

Ahh the classic @X-13 pre-draw optimism. It's become an integral part of our EduGeek competitions.

Of course we'll do our best to keep the winner abreast of the expected delivery date as soon as we have any info on it ourselves.

Actually it was just your standard "I just thought of this and I'm going to forget if I don't say it now..."

Saying that, the PS4 is mine.

I already entered. :p your lies don't fool me!

Every single prize will be mine!!!

Hmm... false. I'm going with false.

by that logic, the last Stocktober would have been won by every one that entered :p

I love it.

In way wasn't it won by everyone? The prize was a sense of fulfilment and fun.

[When Homer is digging for Lincoln's Gold in the White House lawn and finds something]

Homer: [hauls a chest from one of the holes] Marge, I did it! I found Lincoln's gold! [opens up the chest and finds a piece of paper] Huh?

Marge: [picks up the paper and reads it] Dear Countryman. You've come in search of my gold, and I will not disappoint you.

Homer: Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

Marge: My gold is in the heart of every freedom-loving American.

Homer: Aw, crap!

Marge: It's in our mighty rivers, our majestic... well, isn't that clever? It's a metaphor.

Homer: [pounds the ground with his shovel] That lying, rail-splitting, theater-going freak!
