rednight Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Hi, I have searched through some threads about disposing of old computers and printers and indeed have found a couple of companies who will take it away for free - but I wondered if there are any companies out there that would pay some money for all this old stuff (perhaps to then recycle it and sell it on themselves?). For instance, I have a couple of old laser printers which still work but might need a bit of pampering to get them up to scratch ... Has anyone made a few pennies for their school from selling old kit? Thanks!
rednight Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 What part of the country are you in? I am in South East ...
synaesthesia Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I'd say it's unlikely - if it's worth much you're best off using eBay if you're allowed, for instance. The days of recyclers paying to come take things (or paying for stuff they've been able to sell on, without an initial fee) is pretty much long gone. I say this as someone who used to work doing that exact thing, being a pioneer in the UK and watching it go bust.

Yeah, they talked to us too. The problem is that the spec they would pay for (core 2 duo, 2gb, 160gb) still had 3+ years life in our network at the time we talked.
