Not working here :(

Can't authorise updates and get the 'module has not be loaded' at two randomly selected schools.

Call to Capita methinks.

If only you could get through to them! Stuck in queue! You would think that the home page of supportnet would have a bold, clearly visible update on the situation, but all I can see is a regualr small entry dated yesterday saying SOLUS 3 is working.

TBH, why Capita think 15:41 today is a suitable time to email exam officers with an urgent update that needs applying before they do the Exam results tomorrow morning, I haven't the faintest.

This is a consolidated patch i.e. nothing new. We've issued it to help schools that have just come back in to process results so they can apply a single patch rather than ~5. It tidies up the small number of minority qualification anomalies.

Please log this with Capita if you already haven't already.

This will help them get an understanding of how big this issue is and will at least help to escalate this issue.

Also get your LA to check there Solus3 authorisation UI for all schools.

They might find that they are unable to authorise updates to schools via S3.

Sadly I can't! We get our support via our LEA, and the people who would deal with it are out of the office now until the 26th!

??? That seems very inconvenient.

This might be fixing the issue hopefully

SOLUS3 maintenance - today at 1:00 for 15 minutes

We will be taking the SOLUS3 servers down at 1:00 today for approximately 15 minutes to carry out some critical updates.

I will update this posting after the work has been carried out.

SOLUS3 - issue with availability of patches now resolved

The issue where we were unable to authorise updates and patches to sites on SOLUS3 has now been resolved.

This was caused by a knock-on effect of the server failure on Monday afternoon.

We have now issued the Exams consolidated patch (18525) to all Support units and will be working through the rest of the backlog items.

We apologise for any inconvenience that this might have caused you.

Still buggered for me despite them telling me its but its the lack of servers and everyone is trying to upgrade..tried last night at 1am and this morning at 6am as the guy on the helpdesk said try when its quiet (thanks mate mind getting up at 6am for me to remote in and deploy the installation? no? didn't think so). Solus3 should of been taken outside and shot a long time ago, I would take great pleasure in meeting whoever inflicted this piece of garbage on the world. I have no idea how a piece of software can have so many major flaws and yet still be released it seems there is absolutely 0 quality testing that goes into these products and the hilarious thing is when you ring the helpdesk they just say its down like its a matter of fact a quote I got yesterday 'thats just the way it is' not really an acceptable response to an issue when you look at how much money this company make out of schools. This is my first proper attempt at upgrading via SOLUS3 because I have given up countless other times and just reverted to SOLUS2. I feel like I am working in the dark ages with this product. Then it again it could be worse at least they are not Bromcom.

Apologies to everyone for this ratty ranty piece of pre 8am ramblings, getting up early to do a SIMS upgrade because I only have 2 days left at work before I try to take a holiday of some description !! grrrrrrr! yes I should of done it at start of holiday!!! grrr

I still don't have the exams patch on SOLUS 3. I don;t need it anymore as I had to do it using SOLUS 2 instead, but that's not the point! Still getting the "module not loaded" error too.

Just checked again, still the 'module has not been loaded' error.

This really starts to peeve me off - the amount of money we spend on licensing for this product (and lets not forget all that extra money thrown in Capita's direction when a lot of Schools became academies and had to 're-license' our software when every other software company was happy to just carry on regardless), we should expect this work as expected especially during a critical time for SIMS in Schools. This is laughable.

I wonder if this issue will be fixed before the release the new version of SOLUS3.

Its going to be a tad hard to upgrade everyone's SOLUS3 if you can't authorise it.

Unfortunately I can confirm that the SOLUS3 service is not fully operational; needless to say this is something that we regret and are working hard on resolving.

By way of background, we had a catastrophic hardware failure. We had already commissioned new more powerful, resilient servers and brought them on-line ahead of schedule in order to resume the service. For reasons that as yet we have not got to the bottom of, these servers are running at 100% even though no software changes have been made.

This is leading to inconsistent effects in schools and support units - hence some schools are upgrading whist others are failing.

Thanks for the update Phil. Hopefully you guys manage to resolve the issue soon.

I must ask, why were we not advised of this earlier? Most people using SOLUS3 work within the ICT industry to some level so will appreciate that on occasion hardware fails. A lot of the animosity coming from us is because we are constantly being left out of the loop. It’s broke, now it’s fixed again, ohh nope it’s broke again, yay now it’s fixed etc.

I acknowledge that a lot of people aren’t happy with SOLUS3 so will use any excuse to kick up a fuss (rightfully so) however if you guys were more transparent with your information maybe there wouldn’t be such uproar when things go wrong. Just a suggestion…

@MrMat, thanks for your input. I completely agree that we need to sharpen up our communications. At present the product managers are responsible for managing the fix and communicating; they naturally focus first on finding the fix.

On a slightly different tack, we are looking at MSI options for those that are technically able - it's not confirmed but I am pushing to make them available.

That'll be like Microsoft bringing the start menu back.
