russdev Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Hi Something we at Impero Software unwrapped yesterday was YouID by Impero to give you marketing blub. Future proofing, streamlining, consolidating, you’ve probably heard it all before, right? So rather than throwing more big words at you we’ll keep things simple, because that’s what we’re all about. YouID is a user-friendly, secure portal providing easy access to all your web-based applications in one place. As a user, sign-on just once for instant access to everything you need to work online. From everyday work tools such as Office 365, through to online resources and individual accounts including YouTube and Gmail, YouID removes the laborious, and frankly frustrating, task of inputting multiple passwords each day. The portal itself can be completely customised by the individual user in terms of what it looks like and which application shortcuts are selected. By making it look good and making it functional, users are compelled to return, making it ‘business as usual’ fast. Anyway we are supporting a whole load of apps (usual suspects google/live365 etc etc) and load more that currently integrating. However this general call asking if this site could support any web based app what would you want it to support? Russell Edited July 18, 2013 by russdev 1
mitchell1981 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Quite interested in something like this. Our personal list would include: Advanced Learning (Serco) ePortal My Maths Frog Room Booking System (http://www.roombookingsystem.co.uk) TES Foundation Vivo There are more but can't think of them off the top of my head. Ideally we would want it to integrate with our active directory so no login was required at all, except for logging into the computer itself. 1
mitchell1981 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Two of those on my list in the previous post are internally hosted services. Would that work? Obviously they are available to the Internet. 1
russdev Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) Dos this not sound the same as RM Unify? Yes in terms of competition RM Unify is similar (we are better of course but then you work for Stafford so may disagree ) but on serious note. Yes RM have a SSO product and other companies working on things similar. Mainly as we all worked out at same time and to certain degree for same reasons this is way education market is going in terms with move away from VLE to different cloud solutions depending on what your requirements are. As for other services no reason even hosted by yourself as long as on internet should be no issue. Passed these on to product manager and lead developer of the project. Russell

MrWu Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Would love to try this on our planned 1:1 devices or BYOD. We are looking at using hosted apps like Layar, Evernote and Lino but the thought of having to create individual user accounts and lack of central management scares me... We have Frog on AD SSO and trying out Google Apps on Frog SSO but find it does not integrate with google apps. Your idea sounds like what we are looking for.

Don__1 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Have been approached today about this. Has any one used or seen it in action yet? Does sound like it may be of use to us but I would want to see and hear more first. 1
Edu-IT Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 So how are users pulled in from AD? Where is this hosted? 1
russdev Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 So how are users pulled in from AD? Where is this hosted? Hi Users come from AD via encrypted pull method in which we as long correct port forwarding going on router. We pull the data and gets pulled into YouID service. As for hosting the live servers are hosted in Microsoft Azzure servers however we do have a group of schools in wales that use self hosted version of our servers (self hosted only really works of large numbers due to numbers of servers involved) which we manage. funkyfin2000 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Have been approached today about this. Has any one used or seen it in action yet? Does sound like it may be of use to us but I would want to see and hear more first. I was due a login ages ago but not had one sadly, even after several promises of one and calls from various people at Impero. That said, I do have demo coming up in October. So will see what it's like at that and hopefully get a demo ID to have a play.
funkyfin2000 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Quick question on this, is it just a capture of username and password and that's it (and then synced) or is it full on shibboleth whereby other data is also captured and, thus makes it possible to do more than just single sign on?
russdev Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 I believe we can capture anything from your AD (we just have to set agent our side to capture it) that gets imported into AD in the data centre (that is very simplified) that is used to go through the rest of services/servers etc. If we got specific examples either post or pm and I can get a better answer..
