witch Posted December 7, 2013 Author Posted December 7, 2013 Just a thought @witch - you haven't by any chance switched over to SWGfL FTTC have you. We have and our upload speed has dipped from a pretty steady just over 10.00 Mbps to under 2.00 Mbps at times now. SWGfL are looking into this. Nope - we didnt
witch Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) It may be a sub-folder problem. Various threads suggest that it is email accounts that have a long list of subfolders under the inbox. I cant confirm that all 16-odd have the problem but I have checked three and they definitely do. Info is here: Inbox's sub folders are not migrated with IMAP migration tool - Email and calendar - Office 365 - Microsoft Office 365 Community and here: IMAP migration fails - Email and calendar - Office 365 - Microsoft Office 365 Community this may well be why SWGfL stopped offering the service? Now what *edit I have just checked a successful migration and this particular user has so many folders that they run off the page (has she never thought about saving them ELSEWHERE!) so I'm not even sure that this is the issue Edited December 8, 2013 by witch
plexer Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 With a connected account emails will be pulled in until the easymail server is no longer available. Perhaps that will work better than the migration would have to test perhaps using one of the failures? Ben
speckytecky Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 By golly @witch - those two schools get some added value with you don't they. I hope that they let you claim all the overtime you give them. Now for the oft expected numpty question from me! You mention saving messages from UnEasymail to other than the folders provided - I'd love to know how to do that myself - especially as my Bursar now has fast approaching 2GB in her folders; that come migration time if I lost any of them I'd be hugely in the deep, deep, doo da!! plexer Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 For users where you have this sort of issue I think you may have to get them an outlook client licence to enable a local copy to be made. Ben 2
witch Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 @speckytecky did I? Where! It seems to be saying that the default folders are ok but the issue is if you have lots of folders you have created Tomorrow I will follow @plexer's instructions and try and do the connected account thing to see if that works. If it does, then I might go down that route as there aren't TOO many to do.

witch Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) Ahh - I see, I thought you meant in another sort of Easymail folder. I was thinking of getting them to use Outlook - at least the emails will be saved on their own machines - but where? It cant be in their profile so I would have to make sure that it was saved somewhere that will be synced. But if we are going to office 365 then that is all moot. @plexer If I am going to try the connected account thing - presumably I need to take the account I am going to try out of the migration. At the moment all the accounts are still there, both failed and working. Will doing it that way pull in ALL the emails in the account Edited December 8, 2013 by witch
witch Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 To add their own account as a connected account: Log in to Office 365. Click the cog symbol next to the name on the top right of the screen. Click on options. Click on connected accounts. Click + symbol to add an account. Follow the on screen instructions. Ben So it asks for the same details as the migration endpoint? But will it bring in all the old emails, (inbox, sent, etc) and if it does, will it bring them in the folder structure that they are currently in?
Boredguy Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 It should show them the same structure as already in easymail. They should then be able to drag the mail between accounts in a similar fashion to the migration (just not automatically)
witch Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) It should show them the same structure as already in easymail. It asks for the same details as the endpoint. How would you drag the mail? Edited December 9, 2013 by witch
witch Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) I removed one of the accounts that failed to migrate from the migration list I logged on to Office 365 as that user I followed the instructions to connect an account very very carefully. I have received an error message stating that a test connection to that account wasn't successful. Either the email address or password is incorrect But it isn't I have just logged on to the user's Easymail account with the same details successfully. And also started the connection wizard again, with the same result. I am at a loss now as to what to do, @Boredguy @plexer Edited December 9, 2013 by witch
witch Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Also - reading around the subject - the connection only downloads new emails so it wouldnt migrate all their old emails?
Boredguy Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Have you tried to connect the 2 accounts via outlook? It's very strange if 365 can not see those few accounts.
witch Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) We dont use Outlook. I don't know how to do that. I wouldnt be able to change someone else's email account anyway Edited December 9, 2013 by witch
plexer Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I'm sure it will pull in all emails: Connected accounts downloading old email - Email and calendar - Office 365 - Microsoft Office 365 Community Suggests that it would. Let me get my feet back on the ground and head in the game and I'll be in touch. Ben

Let me get my feet back on the ground and head in the game and I'll be in touch. Ben Thanks Ben. I really cant see what to do now. The annoying thing is that I have three accounts and all three migrated successfully - giving me nothing to play with!
witch Posted December 10, 2013 Author Posted December 10, 2013 I have now tried to connect two accounts and watched whilst the DH tried his - even putting in the IMAP stuff it doesnt work. He gets a message to say you cant connect to your own account which would imply that it hasnt picked up the IMAP thing. I get " the test connection was not successful - check username and password" Has anyone got ANY ideas as to what I can do? Or what I am doing wrong?
plexer Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I'm wondering if the whole thing is getting confused because you've used the same format for the username in Office 365 it shouldn't but as a test create a new O365 account for one of the failed users but use a different format i.e initial.surname or something and then try a migration or connected account setup for that. Ben
witch Posted December 10, 2013 Author Posted December 10, 2013 But if that was the case, then surely none would work given that the same info is given re the bulk migration - and 30 users did work? I will happily try another version though
Boredguy Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 If you do not wish to alter the naming convention, you could try the CSV file with a modified 365 account as [email protected] since this e-mail account will always remain valid regardless of what other domains you have assigned to your users. So for example have [email protected],[email protected],mypasswordhere
plexer Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I'm just trying to rule out other things now as all logic with what Microsoft does has gone out of the window. If you haven't already I would also log a service request with Microsoft that can be done through the admin portal. Ben

witch Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) So I have now removed one of the successful migrations from the bulk migration, and logged on as that person and tried to connect the accounts This time I got the "you are trying to connect to your own account" message as soon as I entered the IMAP settings - which is odd as they are exactly the same as for the bulk migration. It must be something I've done - but what? Or maybe I cannot connect accounts with the same address via this method I can't see where to log a service request either I also have created a new user in Office 365 with a different format for the name - sm@ rather than ssmith@ and tried to connect the accounts with no success. It couldnt find the account Am I doing something really stupid? Edited December 11, 2013 by witch
witch Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Can ANYONE point me in the direction of any sort of solution? I have gone round and round on the web and cannot find anything of any use. At what point do I tell my boss that I just can't do it Have raised a service request but of course they will try and ring me and I am not here that often Edited December 11, 2013 by witch
