broc Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Mmmmmm..... Venison Burgers! Sounds good. Bambi-burgers.... yum......
sidewinder Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Any Londoner tried either of the two American burger joints that have opened up in Covent Garden yet? The Evening Standard ran a piece on them the other week and seemed a bit luke warm. Not seen that but generally from what I've read about Five Guys I don't think I'm going to bother going anytime soon
Domino Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 That's not a blind taste test, is it? I wouldn't recommend eating the blind....
HaleStorm Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Im in Lambeth from Wednesday to Friday this week working....any one recommend somewhere good around that area?
xenonive Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I've just been to Five Guys in Covent Garden , it was busy had to wait about 20 mins to get burger but they do take your order then you collect the burger when its ready meaning you have time to go and enjoy the free refills at the coke freestyle machine which is self service 100+ ( I had vanilla and cherry coke together followed by sprite raspberry and peach) combo of flavours and free monkey nuts to snack on. The idea is you pay for your basic burger ie , cheese, bacon or plain for a price. The toppings are then included with price regardless of how many you have think as about 20 options including the sauces. The burger was good and the fries are nice but the price was bit off putting but it is London. £8.50 for double bacon cheese burger, £5 for a large fries but there was enough to share between two of us compared with the states the burgers and portions seem smaller but might just be my imagination . I would go there again and my tip would be to make use of the downstairs seating area as it was empty while everyone was looking or waiting for seats upstairs.
rickjames Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 The medium fries portion at Five Guys is absolutely huge; I didn't expect so many. Was an OK burger (also had a bacon cheeseburger when I went, no wait at all as I got in before the post-work stress) but I wouldn't spend £14 odd it was there again when there's better burgers in London ie Patty and Bun. The drinks machine was cool.
Flatpackhamster Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I wouldn't recommend eating the blind.... Why not? They can't identify you to the police, can they?

rickjames Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 CHRISTMAS BURGER AT THE HAWKSMOOR KLAXON HONK HONK HONK Was going to go to Patty & Bun last night if only for their delicious wings but there was a queue of bloody tourists. Had to make do with Tommi's nearby which was alright; frozen chips always puts me off any burger joint, meh.
