unixman_again Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Linky - I must be getting old as I think each of these songs is s**t! Actually, I can't think of any decent new songs this year.
LosOjos Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I must be getting old as I think each of these songs is s**t! Actually, I can't think of any decent new songs this year. Nope, you just have taste. I hate these lists, who has the authority to decide what "best" is in terms of art? It's all down to taste - in my opinion, the author of that list has none.
HaleStorm Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 My Best New song of the year "God is Dead" - Black Sabbath
sonofsanta Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 It's ok, Kanye West at number one tells you everything you need to know about that list - that it doesn't know anything
hardtailstar Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I only know 2 of the 'artists' on that list but never heard any of the songs!
jinnantonnixx Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I've heard two of them. By the way, have you seen this guy's version of Daft Punk's Get Lucky? It's 10x better than the original. Behold: http://youtu.be/s6NDY8FSr9M
witch Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I like Daft Punk..but as for the rest of them- never heard of most of them
AMLinington Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Linky - I must be getting old as I think each of these songs is s**t! Actually, I can't think of any decent new songs this year. I've only heard of one song on this list
Sunnyknight Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) Worst list i've seen so far. Edit: http://www.officialcharts.com/music-charts/ Better list in my opinion. ITunes may even beat that. Edited June 28, 2013 by Sunnyknight
AMLinington Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Worst list i've seen so far. Edit: Official UK Singles Top 100 - 29th June 2013 | The UK Charts | Top 40 | Official Charts Company Better list in my opinion. ITunes may even beat that. Well I've heard of about 3 on that list.
Devontechie Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I've only heard of one song on this list @AMLightfoot - I've only heard of 1 song as well!
HarryMonkey Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Hardly surprising that we've heard of so few on the list, it's an American list.
tmcd35 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I keep playlists on my iPhone for songs by year of release, playlists going right back to the early 50's. So far this year (and not on either of those lists) I've got: Beady Eye Bon Jovi David Bowie Gianluca Bezzina Hanson Mark Owen Michael Buble Rod Strewart Stereophonics Texas We Came As Strangers Not sure what the best song I've heard so far this year is. "Flick of the Finger" by Beady Eye might get it for the outro, Gianluca Bezzina's Eurovision song "Tomorrow" makes me smile very time because the protagonist "works in IT", Marl Owen's "Stars" is very good as is Rod Stewarts "It's Over". Meh, just my taste. I'm sure there's good music this year for everyones taste - if you ignore the charts
tekins Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 American list, but I've heard of 11 of those! must be the DJ in me :-)
CHR1S Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 “Mirrors,” Justin Timberlake - I'm a closet JT fan Pink... well obviously “White Noise,” Disclosure feat. AlunaGeorge “Blurred Lines,” Robin Thicke feat. Pharrell and T.I. - Tune “Get Lucky,” Daft Punk Wow 5 songs.... and I listen to some rubbish
Meldrew Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I don't recognize any of them either, but I've barely listened to the radio since Chris Moyles last show.
DeltaBravo Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Daft Punk - Get Lucky is the only decent song out this year!
LeMarchand Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Haven't heard any on the first list, and only know who a handful of the artists are. Equal lack of name recognition for the top 100, though I own "Dancing in the Dark" (is it on an advert?) an "My Immortal"(I assume the version just below it is some heinous talentless show cover) on their original albums. I have also (I'm afraid) heard "Gangnam Style". I wish I hadn't. Mind you, I never listen to the radio as whenever someone has it on I never hear anything I like. I possibly miss out on some good stuff (recently discovered Thirteen Senses "Into The Fire" and Elbow "One Day Like This" that apparently got play on release), but I'm pretty sure that the gems I might discover while listening to the radio would be far outweighed by the nausea induced by the huge amount of rubbish that would assault my ears. The last radio station I heard and didn't hate was Radio Rivendell, but it's more "background" listening.

AMLinington Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I don't recognize any of them either, but I've barely listened to the radio since Chris Moyles last show. Funnily enough that was about the time I dusted off my iPod too. He could be an obnoxious twot sometimes but for all his faults the CM breakfast show was good. I miss it. Can't abide the new DJ's - they all sound like they are still at school - complete with unnecessary cheering and 'woo'ing.
LeMarchand Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 RIVENDELL!!!!!! WE'RE LIVING IN THE STORY OF LOTRO??!! Oh oh! No-one told you? Mind you, I would have thought it obvious that most of our politicians are in the employ of Sauron...
