I am over the moon with this line up, as a die hard McLaren fan this is the best we can have without Lewis.
synaesthesia Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I think it's a good move; they keep some of the money Magnussen brings in and Honda will be happy with Jenson for obvious reasons. However what Ron Dennis said was out of line "we have, by orders of magnitude, the best driver lineup." No, they don't. Alonso is great, however on par with Lewis Hamilton. I would say Rosberg is probably stronger than Jenson though, as much of a fan of our Jenson I am.

I don't think there could have been any decision McLaren made that would have made people happy. OK, they have the big names, big former winners. But that's it, former winners. teejay Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Mercedes had a lot of problems with their engine when they first tried it in the car, I wouldn't read too much into the Honda problems, especially as they'd tried to bodge the engine into this years car. I think the Honda engine will be very strong next year, more than likely on a par with the Mercedes engine, but McLaren really have a long way to go to get the car anywhere near competitive with the Mercedes, Red Bull and Williams. To be honest though, I'm really not that big a fan of McLaren, Williams have always been my team and I'm really impressed with the way they've re-built the team now, just hope they continue the upward path and start winning some races next year.

And yeah, will always have a soft spot for Williams. Struck me how badly they've done over the last decade yet you never really hear any moaning or excuses.

Everyone else is a step ahead of them in the midfield at least, let alone the fact that they're running with a tweaked 2014 chassis and a 2014 engine (which is therefore 80bhp down on this year's Ferrari engine). Think I saw somewhere that Giedo van der Garde might be the other driver, in one of the articles on him suing Sauber.
