X-13 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 (edited) I've been messing about with my computer, trying to set up a third monitor, and I can't get it to display anything. I have a dvi and one vga from the card [nVidia geforce 210] and I'm trying to add another vga [intel somthing or other I think] In the BIOS I have the options of: IGD PCI/IGD PCI/PEG PEG/IGD PEG/PCI None of them enable the onboard graphics and the card. [PEG/IGD is what I'd have thought it would be.] The monitor is in powersave, so it knows it's connected to something, but it isn't detected at all. Have I missed a setting somewhere or is it a case of needing a new motherboard/graphics card/dooblydoo to achieve this? Edited June 14, 2013 by X-13
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 The BIOS settings normally determine which graphics device is posted to first, by the PC. Which motherboard are you using? Some older motherboards let you enable both, but I've not seen that for a while.. Could be you need another cheapo graphics card, to get your third monitor.. What free slots (PCI, etc) do you have, and what connector does the monitor use?
X-13 Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 The motherboard is from an old RM "desktop" [it's full of laptop parts...], I believe I have 2 PCI connections free and the only monitor I have is VGA only. [it's an old Dell 4:3 monitor. Not as cool as my big one.]

According to my PC, my second monitor is a projector... I think I have a splitter box at work, I'll see how it goes with that. If it works fine... 3 MONITORS! [because I can.]

[because I can.] Yeah, but that thing is for making two displays show the same image (like classroom PC monitor and projector), you want a separate, independent display.

timbo343 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Ive tried before to have a graphics card with 2 outputs and use the onboard and now a days, motherboards just wont let you do it, ive spent hours trying to get it to work. I ended up buying a USB to VGA adapter which did the trick.

plexer Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I have 3 monitors with 2 off 1 pc and the third off another with a kvm for one keyboard and mouse and s/w kvm to be able to use both at the same time. Ben
