I'm going to the lake district for a week in July. Yay...

Couldn't book anything more exciting as we didnt know if anybody will be at home to look after the elderly dog, and now, when it looks like someone will be here, circumstances have changed and we can't :(

Hey @witch how did you go about booking your holiday to the lake district? I have always wanted to go but don't know where to even start, was it reasonably priced?

@north-ict

I just searched it on line - looking for cottages - ours was from cottages4you - Howe Cottage in Bowness. Very nice. Slept 6 so quite big, and it was £720 peak season. But there are much smaller ones out there

It was absolutely brilliant - the weather was good (bit misty at times, and not super-hot), the scenery is stunning and the cottage was lovely. The dog loved it and leapt up and down the sleep slopes with no problems :)

We tend to use Welcome Cottages - same company but often a bit cheaper for the same cottage!

I also tend to use LateRooms quite a bit as well. I've found some great B&Bs through there.

I should add at this point I don't have my travel money or insurance and have only just purchased a suitcase. Prepared right?

That's fine. I did not book my honeymoon until the night before our wedding day...
