tmcd35 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Doesn't smell quiet right - an unused kinect was taking up processing power preventing the XB1 from achieving PS4 level resolutions and framerates? Is that what they are saying? By completely disconnecting the kinect they can free up the resouces from the kinect that the game wasn't using to start off with?
LosOjos Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I thought MS had realised the Kinect for 360 was a drain on resources and given Kinect for XB1 it's own processor to avoid this problem?

tmcd35 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 Xbox One update will allow external storage, portable games Ooh, looks like XB1 finally has a cool feature over PS4. Common Sony you can't let Microshaft ()get away with this. We need portable gaming on removable hard drives (and I suppose I need friends with PS4's - that'd be cool too).
JJonas Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 It has no upper limit for drive size and will support two drives at the same time.
bondbill2k2 Posted May 23, 2014 Posted May 23, 2014 might of purchased a preowned One last week and I'm so far really enjoying it. Update next month for external storage will also allow you to display your real real name to selected friends instead of gamertags, auto sign in options being added for none kinect users, Skype snapin video call support and improvements to smartglass.
Arthur Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Xbox One without Kinect goes up for sale in the UK « WinBeta Recently Microsoft announced it would begin selling Xbox One without Kinect, a move that some thought of as acknowledgement of sales lagging behind rival Sony PS4. Regardless of the reason, the move allows for a lower priced console and, perhaps, opens up a new market for the gaming and entertainment box. Now the new packaging has gone up for sale in United Kingdom, ahead of the scheduled release. Pricing begins at £315 from electronics retailer CEX. Prices vary, as the store sells both new and used versions of the console. In contrast, Microsoft is currently offering pre-orders of this new version for $399. The idea behind this new sales push is not only to offer the Xbox One for a lower price, but also to open the platform up for more game development, as some games will now be produced without the previous need for Kinect integration. However the Kinect will be offered as an add-on for users who change their mind at some point in the future.

SYNACK Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 First on Microsoft After the whole "T.V, T.V, T.V, T.V" debacle at the launch, I'm surprised by this... That probably puts a bullet in the new Halo multi media type thing to with the tv series and game stuff. Just the new ceo making another unsurvivable mess for a week on week gain on stock price with no longer term plans at all. Why are all these ceos sociopaths intent on killing their businesses, they are basically sacking all the Nokia staff too which is dumb as they are the lot that makes the wp platform better for actual usability.
X-13 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 That probably puts a bullet in the new Halo multi media type thing to with the tv series and game stuff. I think that'll be fine. They're saying anything currently in production will be finished.
tmcd35 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Why are all these ceos sociopaths intent on killing their businesses, Or maybe he realised that going after Sony and Nintendo in the console market is draining enough of their coffers, going after HBO and Netflix (let alone bigger more established players) is suicidal. This is part of the bigger MS turn around since Balmer left the top job. They seem more inward looking and focused on their core business instead of chasing markets they'll only ever be third run players in. I think some analysts are surprised he never choose to pin off XBox completely.
flyinghaggis Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) Just noticed that MS are releasing a TV tuner adapter for the UK. Could be pretty handy for watching tv whilst gaming or recording programmes. Cheap too at only £25 Xbox One Digital TV Tuner Coming to Europe - GameSpot On a similar theme has anyone on here bought the xbox one headset? Official Xbox One Stereo Headset (Xbox One): Amazon.co.uk: PC & Video Games I'm trying to decide whether to buy the headset or just get the adapter on it's own to use with my PS4 headset? Arthur Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Could be pretty handy for watching TV whilst gaming or recording programmes. You can't record TV programmes. http://news.xbox.com/2014/08/xbox-one-digital-tv-tuner Although pausing live TV will undoubtedly use part of the 500GB of hard drive storage on the Xbox One temporarily, Microsoft has not committed to providing DVR functionality with its digital TV tuner to schedule and record programs. It's possible Microsoft may choose to enable DVR functionality in a future update. Microsoft’s Xbox One Digital TV Tuner accessory is similar to Sony’s PlayTV device for the PlayStation 3. PlayTV allowed the PS3 to act as a digital TV tuner and DVR, but Sony has not yet revealed a similar device for the PlayStation 4. (Source)
flyinghaggis Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 (edited) You can't record TV programmes. Live TV and the OneGuide Coming to More Households with Xbox One Digital TV Tuner Thanks for the heads up. I'd read "pause live TV" and assumed it would have DVR functionality. That's pretty disappointing and makes the device far less useful than it could have been Edited August 7, 2014 by flyinghaggis

L3OUGH Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Thinking about trading the PS4 in or an X1 just for Forza Horizon 2, just don't fancy putting any more money into the pot. Reckon I'd get enough for the PS4 for an X1 with Forza Horizon 2 and some Live or whatever it's called?
