davewarman Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 We are now fully W7, we have 64 bit on all desktops and only use the 32 bit version on our netbooks as they only have 1GB of ram everything else has 4GB plus, we have a gigabit backbone so the system is running very well at the moment 1
Rawns Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Congratulations. You've gained the right to strut like Bender: 1

davewarman Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 Thanks for the unreal reference, I used to be quite good at that back in the day UT2004 was my game, however I was hoping to spark a debate about 32bit v 64bit windows 7 but we can stick with unreal, I prefer team deathmatch and capture the flag, my fav weapon is the minigun, the other game I used to be good at was Tom Clancy Rainbow 6 (Raven shield) I got all three packs for that game I remember at a Lan party we played it for 14 hours straight. Have a happy day all
synaesthesia Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 There's no debate these days, putting 32bit on anything unless you have to is utterly pointless Quake 2 was far better though! No version of Unreal ever felt like you were actually walking/running across a surface, just sort of "gliding". Never felt quite right!
tmcd35 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 64bit = More address space 32bit = Legacy Apps FPS = Motion sickness inducing vomit Gaming = PS3, FTW! Let the flame wars begin... 2
sonofsanta Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 64 bit on everything, no matter how little RAM, because it makes drivers & redirected shortcuts much easier. 32-bit Office still though.
Duke5A Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Dust off the first generation Pentiums guys, lets rock Duke3d! Now how do get IPX/SPX multiplayer to work, VPN maybe? Edited May 9, 2013 by Duke5A
mac_shinobi Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Dust off the first generation Pentiums guys, lets rock Duke3d! Now how do get IPX/SPX multiplayer to work, VPN maybe? Better buy 3 or 4 Nvidia Titan graphics cards and SLI them !!

I loved the music from quake 2 although like a lot of older games now the graphics look rubbish now which is why im not sure about playing goldeneye or zelda on the N64 now
tdh1987 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I'm totally playing original UT when I get home now. Thanks guys! 1
Roopert Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 The RAM maximum of 4Gb for 32 bit means we work with 64 bit here so that if we ever want to expand systems there will be no crying into teacups! Plus it means we can remove some of the legacy software that creates similair tears for all technicians everywhere im sure.
SYNACK Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 At this point why bother with 7 if you aren't already there, 9 is out shortly and you'll just be two versions behind again so my answer is 64bit W9
