truebluesteve Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Hi folks I'm looking to buy a few more HP Procurve 2510-48G switches and I wondered if anyone here has a good cheap source they could recommend. A quick look on Google gives prices of around £800 Cheers
ass17 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 We go to BT Business or Medhurst-IT (Tom Drew), but don't expect a great deal if you buy 1 or 2. We got a great deal on 14 HP2920-24-PoE+ switches, retail £1500 got them for £865+VAT (£1038).
eddyc Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 We use lowest price hardware - particularly for ZL modules - much cheaper that most competitors and next day delivery too. Lowest Price Hardware - The Lowest Price Hardware on the NET
sjatkn Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I tend to go to Misco, CCS Media & BT Business. They usually go off to HP directly and get us a really good price even for a one off especially if the price you've seen is from a legit business and it's in stock.
synaesthesia Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 AMC computer supplies ( AMC Computer Supplies Limited ) gave us a cracking price noone else could get near on our 5406's. May be worth a chat!
old_n07 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 (edited) Try Primo IT, they normally beat Misco, BT Business Direct and Equanet on HP pricing. Insight are good on pricing to but their CS was shocking last time we used them. When you Google HP prices some of the suppliers listed come up with pricing that is way cheaper than the average, just make sure it is not a grey import as HP can get a bit funny on warranty Edited March 24, 2013 by old_n07
truebluesteve Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Thanks folks - I will give them a try. I have had a count up and I have at least 13 old Netgear switches that could do with replacing :-/
MYK-IT Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 We use lowest price hardware - particularly for ZL modules - much cheaper that most competitors and next day delivery too. Lowest Price Hardware - The Lowest Price Hardware on the NET WOW They are cheap! (Grey Imports??)
Cache Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 AMC computer supplies ( AMC Computer Supplies Limited ) gave us a cracking price noone else could get near on our 5406's. May be worth a chat! I can't recommend AMC highly enough either, especially on HP gear as said above, no one else could come close! (and they aren't imports either)
Tallwood_6 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Slightly off topic but if you can strech your budget a little further i'd go with the new the 2530-48G Switch's (J9775A)
eddyc Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 WOW They are cheap! (Grey Imports??) Not too sure, been using them for 7/8 years without an issue. Had a module problem at my last school and HP were happy to do a next day warranty job on it...
RTFM Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I'd get a price off @Millgate as Luke is usually pretty bob on 1
Iain.Faulkner Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Last few lots of switches I've bought have come from CP Ltd, always a very good price. 1
Millgate Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Hi @truebluesteve, We have these in stock so I'll drop you a PM with pricing
MYK-IT Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Slightly off topic but if you can strech your budget a little further i'd go with the new the 2530-48G Switch's (J9775A) How do these compare with HP A5120-48G EI Switch (JE067A)? which we have many of (as previously were using 3COM products) I see that the switching capacity is higher on JE067A. I assume Comware is different? as i would need to setup up VLANS / AG Links between switches. Thanks
Coldwired Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Hi all, I just signed up to say thank you for posting this info here as I had a sneaking suspicion we weren't getting a great deal on our prices (I'm in a large hospital in the south west). I made a note of some of the companies mentioned and sure enough we are now getting cabling & HP Procurve kit much cheaper. I wish I had searched earlier! I made contact with a chap called Chris Wyman from AMC Computer Supplies and we now have a nice batch of 2920G-48 PoE and 2620-48 PoE's. Have had excellent service and he confirmed that it is all authentic stock with full warranty etc. I didn't want to get in trouble with grey-import issues as we had an issue with gbics in the past. We still have around 70 old 2650's to replace, which will be fun.. anyway thanks again. dan
manc_techie Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 We use lowest price hardware - particularly for ZL modules - much cheaper that most competitors and next day delivery too. Lowest Price Hardware - The Lowest Price Hardware on the NET +1 for LPH, never had any issues with them apart from when the carrier left 11 new switches on a loading bay. Service wise they are great and prices are superb.
