Worrying thing they have brought freedom2surf my isp going to go to zen in next few months.

Yep, and Tiscali bought out Nildram via Pipex too... Zen is going to be getting my business too when the deadline for changeover gets closer (think it's August next year)

Yeah I'm with f2s, too - I'll just wait to see if the service goes down hill. But I would never go (back) to Zen - I moved away form their high-expense low-speed service years ago. £24.99/month for upto 8Mbit with 20GB bandwidth limit - no thanks :)

I think the only providers that F2S customers will be happy with will end up being the Enta.net resellers such as UKFSN, ADSL24 etc etc, they have packages that near enough match the F2S offerings.

I'm considering moving off of them when our 1yr is up and moving to sky..

Never migrated ADSL providers so dont know what the process is other than u need a MAC number - question is - when can i apply for it

(1Yr contract ends just before xmas..)

you get your Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) from your current ISP and it should be in the form of "4letters7numbers/2letters2numbers1letter". you then pass this on to your new ISP who will tell you 10 days later they tried it and BT told them it was the wrong MAC, and that you don't need a MAC to change ISP, just call BT on this freephone number and get them to remove the tags. After 20 minutes on the line to BT you get to speak to a techie who will tell you that there are no tags on the line because it has broadband, and the MAC codes are there so that individual companies can negotiate this deal between them without going through BT. you then get back to your proposed ISP (via a third world callcentre) who say that's fine, just call the sales desk and they will sort you out. When you eventually get through to sales, after say, 10 minutes, they set up the job again and then try to charge you the one-off setup fee you've already paid for the original job, and, no, the router hasn't arrived yet. you then call them every 3 days to check the progress of your order.

Lol, I don't think thats how its supposed to happen... :p

I didn't even need to speak to anyone for switching to BT, as you can do it all online. Now we just have to see if the system works properly.

I meant to say that neither ISP in this case is BT.

I was with Tiscali when they introduced the 100K service for £12.99. It started off ok but then got slower than dial-up. I complained bitterly and then wrote to them saying I wanted to cancel my contract as they were not providing a reasonable service. I got a call from a very nice man who said the problem had been traced to my local exchange and it should be ok now. It was much improved so I wrote thanking them. A week later they cut me off!!!! I've now got a 2M uncapped service with Orange for £19.99 per month. I'm pretty heavy on it and they don't seem to mind. So I intend to stay put.

A techie using AOL?

:p

To be fair I was an aol customer for long time and offered very good service but i got chucked off.

Long story short they said I was doing dos attack must have virus we checked all machines everything was ok. They wouldn't tell me who i was meant to be doing dos attack on and they cut me off.

Moved to freedom2surf they said had complaint from so and so company about dos attack. Tracked it down to my podcast client and the said company having malformed xml deleted entry and all was well.

It does the job I want it to and I get free evening and weekend calls can't be bad. The service has been excellent so far.

to be fair to Zak (FN) he may not hold the purse strings in his house, and the decision to go with AOL is because it's very easy to set up. This is probably the reason a lot of teachers go with it. I used to have it myself.
