Hi All,

Im after a tablet for our caretaker that can:

Create documents and spreadsheets

Access to internet

be about 7 inches

take pictures/video

access internet (I know all tablets can do this)

also 16gb or above.

Hes looked at the galaxy tab and liked it but not sure. Ideally id like it to be Android so that its easier to manage.

Any ideas?

many thanks

Android might be an issue if you have a proxy server. Have you had a look at the iPad mini?

Why? We have found Androids connect via to proxy as long as they are 2.2 or higher, so basically anything from the last 2 years.

The Acer on eBuyer posted above does look a good deal, been keeping any eye on those myself. I love my Nexus 7 but it only has a front camera.

Nexus 7? Will always be up to date and the best hardware for its price.

Edit; Sorry just noticed the need for a camera... We have some Toshiba at300's and they are OK, cameras suck though...

Stay clear of the Nexus 7, the build quality is akin to Russian Roulette. Some work fine, apparently but lots don't as well, stick to a reputable manufacturer like Samsung or a non ASUS rebrand.

I can validate this. I'm stuck in front of a pile of them now. Wondering why I purchased them. Two arrived with the batteries disconnected so heaven's knows how they got through quality control. On one the rear cover doesn't fit properly so I'm going to make it fit, and another keeps going ga-ga and needing a reboot. All I've done to it is check for updates.

Buy Archos 80 Cobalt Tablet (8”, 8GB, wifi) from our Tablet PCs range - Tesco.com

Here's a bit of a left-field suggestion....

Will take a micro-SD up to 64Gb....Has front and rear cameras...Bought 3 for our kids at Christmas* (8,14 &16) and they love them. Running ICS...haven't seen a JB update, and doubt they'll get it as the Titanium series has just come out.

*They were a last minute thought....We picked them up on Christmas Eve for the princely sum of £49.50.... 50% off....bargain of the year!

I think the Haswell and ValleyView chipsets are really going to change the tablet market especially the rather lack lustre Windows Pro versions there are at the moment.

I have deliberately avoided the iPad, Android Windows RT mass roll out issue for the moment as longer term I suspect that all of my tablet users want to access everything they currently have on their desks without the hassle of disparate OS's and policy management issues.

I would rather do it all using AD and SCCM so a Windows Pro Tablet that actually works well is my dream... lets hope that Intels new chips deliver.
