The Windows 8.1 w/ Bing model (2GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage) is going to cost $149, while the lower-specced Linux model (1GB RAM, 8GB eMMC storage) costs $89. The first Compute Sticks ship in March Specs Intel Z3745 Quad Core "Bay Trail" SoC 802.11n Wi-Fi Bluetooth 4.0 2 x USB 2.0 ports (one of them is micro USB for powering the stick) microSD card slot HDMI 1.4a port While the first version is using Bay Trail, we'll soon also see it run on Cherry Trail, and, it was hinted, even Core M. Oaktech Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 (edited) I wonder if it will suffer heat issues if your HDMI port is, say, the opposite way up to the vents, or the plug in is a bit tight? It does look handy though. I've got about 35 HDMI/VGA monitors sprinkled about the place that are currently being used VGA, I could make a basic ICT suite pretty cheaply! dry Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Looks decent for the price, although don't like the idea of that mass of plastic & components straining the HDMI connector. If installed in schools, I can imagine a new game being fashioned by the kids- akin to smashing mailboxes in the US...

Agree that HDMI socket looks a bit precarious but I guess the protruding design is the most common so you can just plug it into a TV. Add a wireless or Bluetooth adapter and away you go.
