I have made a start on our new Squid box to replace our aging ISA box, and have hit a small roadbump. I've set it up very basically so far - namely defining the access rules (ie. saying people on our IP range can use it), setting the cache_peer rule for the parent proxy (swgfl) and set the visible_name value (morbo.schooldomain.etc...). Now, when I go to the hostname direct (namely morbo:8080, as that is the port I am using) it gives me the error message I expect - invalid request. But if I set the box as the proxy in Chrome (or anything else), it times out on everything. It worked once, for the first request I made to google.co.uk but that was it. Everything else just dies. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Anything you would like to see, logs etc... can be provided.

HI.. First post here.. so here goes. Since the November Release (Dec 08) for updating SIMS in school from our LEA, we have had emence problems using Lesson Monitor under .NET. Prior to this upgrade.. we are happily using Lesson Monitor with 60+ clients for registration 5 times a day. The problem we have now is Lesson Monitor times out with an error of "The database query timed out : SIMS.Entities.DatabaseExceptionTimeout"" This happens at random times across the whole site either when loading the register or when saving the register. Before this upgrade we made no changes to infrastructure within the network and had no issues. We have no problems or timeouts in SIMS, the problem only exists within Lesson Monitor v6.56 Under our LEA's advice, we have; 1. Doubled the the amount of RAM in the server. 2. Modified the connect.ini file with a timeoutcommand of 150000 secs - This i disagreed with as im sure this is only for connecting to the main SIMS.NET Gui, and we dont have an issue here. 3. We have relocated the SIMS server within our network and changed its connection from 100Mb to 1000MB with a new switch (HP Procurve 2510G) 4. Our LEA installed a patch from Capita that was suppose to deal with the problem, but made no ounce of difference. Last contact from Capita, said they were working on better memory management for LM but it gave no time scale. Our LEA are saying the problem is our network, but we have no issues anywhere else on the network. And SIMS itself is fine just not LM. Anybody else have problems with timeouts in Lesson Monitor? Or can suggest things for me to check? Mr_P

Hi, We've got a new Ruckus setup installed, presently four APs as a kind of trial before going further. Two of them are in one building (Etasc) and two in another (Craven). If you roam between the two in Craven, internet browsing is almost seamless as you roam. However if you roam between the two in Etasc, internet browsing stops for about 6 minutes with the little spinning thingy (or other 'loading' indication depending on browser) then suddenly the page loads and browsing continues normally. The same happens both ways between Etasc APs, and we have swapped the APs from Craven with the Etasc APs and the problem remained in Etasc - so we're suspecting it isn't Ruckus that is causing the problems. Anyone any ideas what might be the cause? Cheers, Peter

I have an issue that I thought I had solved, but it keeps rearing it's ugly head, and any help suggestions would be greatfully recieved. I have MOSS 2007 published through ISA 2006, sharepoint is configured with form based authentication, the web site is set with a session timeout of 35 mins, and ISA is configured with a web listener session timeout of 30 mins, as per ISA instructions. Authentication works perfectly internally and externally for the sharepoint web site, but sessions timeout after 10 mins not the 30 mins I have configured with ISA. The problem that I have with this is that I am also using SIMS Learning Gateway, and staff have to log in from home to fill in the reports and marksheets for profiles online. I am getting complaints that when completing the reports on the web form, staff are asked to log back in, but the form data is lost on re-authentication. this is really anoying for staff who lose 15 mins worth of work. I have tried a content editor web part that rotates through 3 pages on the sharepoint site, in a vain attempt to keep the ISA session alive when on the reports page. however this just displays the isa logon page once the session timeout. Whilst this enables the user to log back on without losing report data, it's not the elegant solution i am looking for. Can anyone help?

Hi All We have a MERU wifi network. Our controller died and Fortinet have given us a new one. In order to get it working we have to downgrade the firmware so it will work on our APs The procedure to downgrade is simple on paper. Boot into linux recovery. Connect to an FTP server with the file on it and the box does the rest. I've managed to get connected and authenticated to my own FTP server. Next step is to navigate to the file and do an mget. Problem is any command I give be it ls, dir or Mget causes the connection to time out. I'm connected via the network using cable. My PC and the MERU are on the same subnet and can talk to each other pingwise plus I've connected and authenticated. All the relevant firewall app and port rules that I am aware of are in place. I'm hoping this is straightforward - how can I stop the connection timing out when I run a basic command? TIA
