We had a problem with a share on our file server the other week and ended up having to temporarily re-assign and change the drive letter of our main file share. Since doing that all of the FSRM quota templates have vanished? The quotas themselves are all still there though. I've been trying to find a guide online that describes how/where FSRM stores these templates but haven't had any sucess so far. I'd guess it would be saved in a location in the Windows folder (system drive itself) as it presumably wouldn't make sense to store the templates on each drive individually so I was surprised when these vanished? Does anyone know how FSRM stores the quota template data and if there's any way we can recover these quotas?

Hi guys, Got our new servers installed and running. A quick question I have set the folder quotas on our first server which has staff home directories locally on it and they work fine. I now want to do the same for the students on another server also running 2012 R2. Do I need to install File Server Resource Manager locally on that server or can the first instance on teh staff server manage files on another server in the domain? Thanks guys

I had a weird idea the other day which I thought I might share. It is a slightly different take on the video how to idea that is getting quite common on the web now. Microvideo chains The idea is that instead of one long video that covers a process beginning to end each step is split into a seporate video and can then be strung together like a sentence. As an example something like adding a CName to DNS requires: Opening DNS snapin Expand Server tree Expand Foward lookup zone Right click and select add select CName Type in cname and enter This could all be captured as a single video then sliced up into the little parts, in future if you wanted to make one about adding an MX record you would only need that little bit to include in the video sentence. This same method could be used for all sorts of programs but would require a queueing database that was easily searchable and easily buildable upon to create the how to sentences. Web based of course Such a project would take time and effort but could yeild extremely fast and accurate customized how to videos to help people solve problems if the content was there. Anyhow, just an idea that I thought I would share incase it inspired anyone. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/27/DV_tape_sizes_2.jpg/250px-DV_tape_sizes_2.jpg

We use Office 365 to run our e-mails. Though we do have on-site AD any resources are set up in Office 365. In the past couple of weeks we have seen previously reliable resources declining meeting requests reporting: This resource can only be scheduled during the working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday I have used the Get-MailboxRegionalConfiguration command in Powershell to ascertain that, of the five such resources we have, only one had a time zone set. That resource "behaves" but so does another without a time zone set. I used Set-MailboxRegionalConfiguration to set a time zone for one of the mailboxes but this had no effect on being able to book the resource. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else has seen the start of similar behaviour and, of course, whether anyone has any ideas that can help. Could it be the DateFormat or TimeFormat as shown in Get-MailboxRegionalConfiguration. Why would it be that these, or one of these, entries which are currently blank, would have started to cause problems recently? I have disabled "Allow scheduling only during work hours" within the settings of each resource as a workaround. Thanks for reading, Paul.
