We moved are staff and student users to O365 over the last year. Students are using mandatory profiles and access emails via OWA we also map OneDrive using a script. Staff are using roaming profiles and access emails with Outlook 2013 currently no mapping for them. I'm looking to move Staff to mandatory profiles but i want to keep Outlook 2013/16. I was planning to redirect the APPDATA folder to a hidden share on a file server as i can't see another way to push staff to mandatory profiles but allowing them to keep the mail profile or extra outlook settings. Was wondering how over admins are managing O365 within a college or school? Are end result is to completely remove network shares and have everything pushing to O365 or Sharepoint Online. Cheers J

Ive been racking my brains in trying to get this working. Ive created a mandatory profile, loaded to the domain, given it the .v2 extension, given the Registry Everyone full rights to the user.dat renamed to user.man. Thought it all seemed to work. So I logged on with a user using mapped drives via GPO, all seemed good, went to login on again I got a different desktop and no drive letters, logged off then back on and got the correct desktop and drives. This keeps happening, so every other login I get no mapped drives and a different (standard win7 wallpaper) dekktop. All I can find at the moment is that it seems to not like some reg keys unloading when logging off, but otherwise at the moment I am non the wiser and bugging me

can they work together? I've been playing with these settings on Windows 2008 R2 gpo and windows 7 and if both apply then gpo settings break. What have I done wrong? If I remove the man profiles setting then the gpo settings apply but as soon as I apply the man profiles on a user account then only certain gpo apply but not all. Here's an example: I created gpo setting with a shortcut and wall paper, restricted users to modify the task bar, access to the c:\ drives, map a network drive and ect.. If a user log on with out Man. profile then everything works as it should. As soon as I apply the Man. profiles and log off and back on to windows 7 desktop, the only thing I can see is the background still apply, but not the rest. The user can access the c:\ drive and can see the network neighbor. Can someone point me to the right information? Thanks!

Hi, I am working at a school and over the holidays we have upgraded our network from 2003/xp to a 2008R2/Win7 network. Most things are working as they should but we seem to be getting a few odd issues popping up. Just wondering if anyone has any idea on the following? When students log in to the network a few of them randomly seem to be missing the documents folder and are unable access any documents/folders. The odd thing is some of them are able to access the documents, but are missing random files and folders (the files/folders show up on the server) or the folder is greyed out and has a cross through it and some of them are unable to access the documents what so ever, coming up with the error that the location could not be found. This is only happening to students and not staff. Student accounts and staff accounts both use different profile types and group policies. Staff users have a roaming profile whereas students have a mandatory profile with roaming appData. If anyone has any ideas or information about what could be happening any help would be much appriciated! Joe

Hi, First post on this forum so I hope this is in the correct place! Over the last few months the network manager and I have been working on upgrading our schools network. We have just replaced our (very) old RM servers and moved to 2008R2 which we are running our selves. We have also upgraded the OS we use to windows 7 and have deployed this using SCCM, creating packages for software ect. When we came to creating a package for CS4 we used the deployment kit provided by adobe, which has worked perfectly, the only problem we have is when students go to run anything CS4, it is prompting for activation and asking for a product key. This has all been built into the CS4 deployment so should not be needed. I have done some testing and it seems that this problem is ONLY for student user accounts, if a staff member logs on and runs photoshop or any other CS4 product it activates automatically as it should. This is causing a problem for us as having to run CS4 as a staff member on every pc in the school is a big task as we have over 350 pc's. Student and staff users both have a different profile type and a separate group policy so I have narrowed it down to being either of those. Students use mandatory profiles where as staff use roaming. Both the student and staff policies are very similar permission wise so I am having trouble finding anything that could stop adobe from activating. What I would like to know is if anyone else has had a similar problem or knows of anything that could be causing this? Any help would be much appreciated so thank you in advance! Joe

Hi Everyone, I have created a mandatory profile, Mandate.v2,in windows server 2008 R2. I need to deploy mandatory profiles to multiple user, So i have changed the user's profile path to \\server\\profiles\mandate.v2. As per my knowledge,This is how we deploy mandatory profiles to multiple user.I can successfully login to accounts as a mandatory profile. User's internet doesn't work on any browser. It says 'site can't be reached'. If i right click the chrome or internet explorer and click run as administrator,It works. Is it some thing related with permissions ? I have stored the mandatory.V2 under folder 'Profiles' and the user's Appdata,Documents and download are redirected to another folder called 'mandate accounts'. What permission should i set on profiles, Mandatory.V2,and mandate staff accounts ? Thanks Beek

Hi, Students have now homefolders with about 500MB storage. We use Windows 10 1709 for now and use mandatory profiles. Most students use shared computers inside classrooms. Only some classes have byod devices which has not this issue. I'm thinking to use Onedrive for storage. But i don't want to sync to local pc or to file servers. I've read something about "Redirect Windows known folders to OneDrive", but seems not working with mandatory profiles. I'm wondering if someone else also have this or have a solution or suggestions how to get allong with storage for students. Thanks for reading and looking forward to tips and suggestions.

Hi, Has anyone managed to disable the edge welcome page? I've tried this script: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Remove-the-Welcome-screen-a84c50c6 but not working using mandatory profiles.
