Hi all, I've been grappling with how best to gently explain the differences between a MIS or Database Manager (back-end (e.g. SQL DBA & SSRS) role) and a Data Manager or MIS Administrator (front-end administrative role, possibly w/ some data analysis?) (obviously titles vary across institutions quite a lot, which is no doubt part of the reason for my needing to explain!) to some new SMT members. (One of these two roles is one of the many hats I wear, while the other isn't and I've not got space for more hats.) It occurred to me that I must not be the first person in this situation, so I was wondering if anyone out there has a document or knows of a web site that helps to clarify this in any way? Alternatively, if you work in a school/trust/etc. that has both these roles, I'd welcome pairs of JDs! Thanks! JW
